so good. How did Peter Lopez come to know me ...
This book hurtâ.so good. How did Peter Lopez come to know me so well ?
My long life filled with excuses, fears and doubts. Peter doesnât mince words and covers the serious problems created by oneâs mental roadblocks: â I learned early on that excuses are a form of poison. They paralyze you with false reasoning and you fail to act.â Each chapter leads the reader through the roots of the excuses that we have and he wisely instructs us: â You are going to take one final look at your past and never look back again.â He motivates the reader with gems such has â Your dreams will never leave your pillow â.
In Part II, he creates the path we can follow to change our excuse laden life with decisions and actions that lead to a truly successful life. His discussion of reason vs excuse is excellent; the truth and the lie. Many of our daily excuses are little white lies but underlying these daily deceits is the evil core of doubt. If we follow Peterâs very specific recommendations, we will achieve an excuse free life by âliving a life of integrity and honor.â
Every student should be mandated to read this book before they can graduate!!!
This is a 'Must Read' book for everyone. I don't like being around the person that's always making an excuse for everything. How about you? Well, news flash!! That person is me without even realizing it! I always thought, "Well I have a good reason for procrastinating on this project or that." Right? I mean after all going in for open heart surgery is a pretty good excuse for not finishing one of my projects. Wrong! That is what I thought until I read this book. My excuse is actually ok during my stay in the hospital and while recuperating, but not 10 years later. I didn't realize I was still hanging onto that excuse until I did some exercises Peter suggested. As he says, we're actually lying when we gives excuses. What did you say? I'm telling a lie when I make up an excuse? Oh yea! But then Peter also made me realize that it's ok to tell someone that I just need some space or whatever. After reading this book, I am now paying closer attention to my words and no longer making up excuses for things.
