    Publisher's Summary:
SECOND EDITION—REVISED AND UPDATED The reality of UFO incursions at American nuclear weapons facilities has been convincingly established. Hundreds of U.S. military veterans now openly discuss these ominous incidents—involving what are now known as unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP)—and thousands of declassified government documents substantiate their revelations. Over the past four decades, renowned researcher Robert Hastings has interviewed more than 150 of those veterans regarding their involvement in these astounding cases. On September 27, 2010, CNN live-streamed his UFOs and Nukes press conference in Washington D.C. during which former U.S. Air Force officers described numerous nuclear missiles mysteriously malfunctioning moments after a disc-shaped craft was observed hovering near their underground launch silos. That shocking episode, in March 1967, was merely the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Documented UFO activity occurred at a plutonium processing plant in Washington State as early as January 1945, months prior to the atomic bombings in Japan. Another incident, in October 2010, involved one missile base in Wyoming being unable to communicate with several of its missile launch control capsules just as a huge cigar-shaped craft slowly flew over them. Significantly, documents smuggled out of Russia in the 1990s confirm that Soviet nukes were also the focus of UFO interest during the Cold War era. On one occasion, in October 1982, a number of missiles temporarily activated for launch, as terrified officers attempted to disrupt the unauthorized count-down. After 15 seconds, the anomaly terminated and the equipment returned to standby status. While this was taking place, an enormous disc silently hovered over the base. In short, the evidence presented in UFOs & Nukes makes clear that humans’ deadliest weapons have been, since their development and use during World War II, under intense scrutiny by still-unidentified observers possessing tremendously advanced technology. Given these disclosures, it seems evident that the UFO-Nukes Connection is highly significant and perhaps even the key reason these mysterious aerial craft have appeared in our skies over the past seven decades. Robert Hastings’ UFOs and Nukes  is a foundational contribution to the growing body of UFO/UAP literature. Other titles in the genre include Luis Elizondo’s Imminent: Inside the Pentagon’s Hunt for UFOs  and Leslie Kean’s UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record. This audiobook is expertly read by Michael Hacker, with audio engineering by Blake Rook. It was produced and published by Echo Point Books & Media, an independent bookseller in Brattleboro, Vermont.

    Publisher's Summary:
Brought to you by Penguin. The runaway #1 New York Times bestseller As Hitler's ascendancy began to make a Second World War inevitable, a clandestine network flooded the United States with disinformation aimed at sapping the strength of its war effort and persuading Americans that their natural alliance was with the Axis. It was a sophisticated and shockingly well-funded campaign to undermine democratic institutions, promote antisemitism, and destroy citizens' confidence in their elected leaders, with the ultimate goal of overthrowing the US government and installing authoritarian rule. Some of the country's most influential elected officials, including senators and members of Congress, worked to disseminate Nazi talking points, while fascist paramilitaries stockpiled bombs and weapons in preparation for violent insurrection. Prequel unearths the forgotten story of these insurrectionists, as well as the heroic efforts of the journalists, prosecutors, and regular citizens who sought to expose their plot and bring them to justice. Deeply researched, the story of how the crisis was averted is also a deeply relevant tale for our own disquieting times. 'A ripping read. . . . The parallels to the present day are strong, even startling' New York Times 'A chilling history lesson... Vivid, urgent, smart' Washington Post © Rachel Maddow 2024 (P) Penguin Audio 2024

    Narrator: Kent Klineman
    Format: Unabridged Audiobook
    Length: 10 hours 18 minutes
    Release date: July 10, 2024
    Genres: Military
    Publisher's Summary:
Making Makers presents a comprehensive history of a seminal work of scholarship which has exerted a persistent attraction for scholars of war and strategy: Makers of Modern Strategy. It reveals the processes by which scholars conceived and devised the book, considering both successful and failed attempts to make and remake the work across the twentieth century, and illuminating its impact and legacy. It explains how and why these volumes took their particular forms, unearths the broader intellectual processes that shaped them, and reflects on the academic parameters of the study of war in the twentieth century. In presenting a complete genesis of the Makers project in the context of intellectual trends and historical contingency, this book reflects on a more complex and nuanced appraisal of the development of scholarship on war. In so doing it also offers contributions to the intellectual biographies of key figures in the history of war in the twentieth century, including Edward Mead Earle and Peter Paret. Making Makers contributes to an intellectual history of military history and contextualizes the place of history and historians in strategic and security studies. It is not only a history of the book, but a history of the networks of scholars involved in its creation, their careers, and lines of patronage, crossing international boundaries, from Europe to the USA, to Asia and Australia.

The true story of an airman's audacious escape from occupied France in World War Two. Perfect for fans of The Great Escape, The 21 Escapes of Lt Alastair Cram, and The Wooden Horse. Sir Basil Embry's Blenheim bomber was shot down in the summer of 1940. During the course of his time in enemy territory he broke out from a column of prisoners while having a Nazi machine gun aimed at him, fought against his captors with stolen weapons, hid in stinking manure, and even posed as a member of the Irish Republican Army in order to throw his captors off the scent of his true identity. In total he was captured three times and three times he refused to submit. Only through sheer courage and wit did he make his way back to Britain to fight and fly again. This is his remarkable story. Anthony Richardson served as Adjutant in the same squadron as Embry later in the war and was told about these astounding exploits first-hand. This book will undoubtedly amaze all interested in moments of amazing fortitude in the face of overwhelming odds.

    Format: Unabridged Audiobook
    Length: 10 hours 58 minutes
    Release date: July 5, 2024

    Publisher's Summary:
KEVIN BALL found his way in the humanitarian world because he felt the need for change. Hollywood's materialistic temperament was wearing on him. His career as a professional stuntman spanned over thirty years and it helped to prepare his mind and body for the hurdles of filming NGOs in developing nations, as well as giving him years of experience both in front of and behind the camera. Kevin decided to take his skills and advocate for those doing great things in the name of humanity. Since his first trip in 2007 to the K-5 minebelt in Cambodia with Freedom Fields USA and the international humanitarian demining group, The HALO Trust, he hasn't looked back. As of 2022, Kevin has had boots on the ground supporting NGOs in over thirty-five countries and has worked with the World Food Program, Operation Smile, The HALO Trust, International Health Emissaries, GUA Africa, Global Action for Children, and more. Acting as the personal film crew for Cindy McCain on her humanitarian missions, Kevin, with the assistance of his stunt buddy, John Evanko, accompanied her to Southeast Asia to document segments to be used during John McCain's run for Presidency of the United States in 2008. They then continued to travel with her, documenting her benevolent actions. Kevin's soapbox message, which he preaches often, is that 'Humanity is simple one hand reaching out to help another hand in need, nothing more, nothing less.' With this message as his guiding light, he continues to speak out in the darkness and to be a voice for those silenced by unfortunate worldly circumstance and for those that are just trying to do what is right.

    Release date: July 4, 2024

    Publisher's Summary:

    Publisher's Summary:

Title: Algorithms of Armageddon: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Future Wars

    Narrator: Lyle Blaker
    Format: Unabridged Audiobook
    Length: 7 hours 38 minutes
    Release date: June 25, 2024
    Genres: Military
    Publisher's Summary:
It is unclear if U.S. policy makers and military leaders fully realize that we have already been thrust into an artificial intelligence race with authoritarian powers. The United States' peer adversaries—China and Russia—have made clear their intentions to make major investments in AI and insert this technology into their military systems, sensors, and weapons. Algorithms of Armageddon examines this most pressing security issue in a clear, insightful delivery by two experts. The authors cover in depth debates surrounding the AI 'genie out of the bottle' controversy, AI arms races, and the resulting impact on policy and the laws of war. Given that global powers are leading large-scale development of AI, it is likely that use of this technology will be global in extent. Will AI-enabled military weapons systems lead to full-scale global war? The later chapters of the work explore these questions, point to the possibility of humans failing to control military AI applications, and conclude that the dangers for the United States are real. Neither a protest against AI, nor a speculative work on how AI could replace humans, Algorithms of Armageddon provides a time-critical understanding of why AI is being implemented through state weaponization, the realities for the global power balance, and more importantly, U.S. national security.
