Jodi Carlisle's voice is comforting, too. (To me, she sounds a bit like Joyce!)

This is the best translation I have read and heard, it conveys Gods word with a more modern English words and phrase but definitely is still the same message God intended. Highly recommend

Incredible how-to on standing up for your faith today

This book gives a very practical approach to standing up for your faith amidst today's cultural conflicts that turn even many Christians from Christ. Each topic is set up as a description of the pastor's beliefs on the topic, followed by a practical application of how you can live it out in your own life, as well as specific bullets to pray on that topic. Highly recommend.

Great book on discipling within the local church

This was a very helpful book, biblical and practical. I highly recommend spending the short time to listen or read it. It was engaging to listen to.

Good book on Discipleship

This is a good book on what discipleship is and how it should be promoted in local congregations. My only complaint is that Mark Dever seems to place more emphasis on church-based discipleship as opposed to personal/relational discipleship, which is more effective and closer to what happened 2000 years ago. He gives great advice on why discipleship is important, how it needs to be relational (hence my slight confusion on his seeming to focus on the church) and point people to be more like Christ through relationship. Perhaps Dever is simply saying that the church needs to promote and lead by example, which I do agree with.

In any case, this is a good short book with great concepts everyone can build on to promote building disciples of Christ.

A new take on the book of Ruth

I love this book because it took a new look at the book of Ruth in the Bible. I read it with a church group in the summer time and really got a lot out of it. I just listened to it on Audible and it helped remind me of the lessons. It encourages women to be the kind of people others and God can trust to complete the task no matter how big or small.

Most important book after the Holy Bible

Do not be concerned about the narrator. The introduction is an imitation of Al Pacino in A Devils Advocate movie scene. It lasts a minute or so and that's it. Then the narrator uses his regular voice till the end. He has a good voice so don't listen to other reviews. The sample on audible is a the intro of Pacino imitation. This book is everything about spiritual warefare. Who what when where why. I never take notes from an audiobook but this book led me to get out my notebook. Get this book. You need it. You won't be disappointed.

Good book but terrible performance

powerful message I love his testimony and how God is using him but the music in this reading of the book and the voice did not fit. Felt awkward listening to it I'm going to buy the book to read myself.

Easy to comprehend

Intelligent, Convicting & Enjoyable

I enjoyed this book of much more than I thought I would. The author has a great way of rationally & intelligently speaking to and about a heated topic that often causes unbelievers to feel offended, and believers to try and detour the matter gracefully. There is no graceul way. There is no way to sugar coat a fact that folks don't want to hear. There is no shades of gray with God for He is the Truth, and He is Absolute, not subjective.

Jesus said, point blank, "No man cometh unto the Father except through me", it is amazing to me that so many will deny, and dodge and this Truth. EVERY other religion other than Christianity is a denial of the one true God, and Jesus is the ONLY way to heaven.

This book deepened my faith and my christian convictions, but it probably won't be well received by those who just do NOT want to accept the bible as the Word of God.

Odd, we get that our landlord makes the rules and we need to follow them or be evicted. We understand that our boss makes the rules and we need to follow them or be fired, but when it comes to GOD, many still believe they can do whatever they want, follow the religion of their choice, make their own rules, and they expect God should just love them and there should be no consequences for the rebellion.

And they will take their misguided beliefs and lies to hell with them unless they repent. I pray this audiobook opens eyes of those who are yet still blind to the Truth.

If you find yourself at a loss for the right words when trying to explain the gospel, this book will be very helpful. The author gives many good analogies and helpful insights and stories to help you present the gospel in easy to understand ways.

Gave it a try for a few months after receiving a recommendation and didn't like it

Poetic. Just okay. Very few gold nuggets! Each day does not feel like one complete thought. Not a devo (which is what my friend suggested it was)

Some days totally have a valid point in many cases, but can also place unrealistic expectations on the listener since not all physical or emotional ailments can be cured with trust or hope. (ie: cancer)

The VO artist clearly recorded a section of spots while she was sick (I'm an actress and you can hear it- it distracts the listener from the message and is just annoying!) Overall, her tone doesn't provide clear communication, but rather a rhythmic trance.
