Great resource

Picked this up while on vacation & read it via my Kindle app. I enjoy resources by The Good Book Company so it was not a stretch to pick it up. I greatly enjoyed the tone of the book. It was not combative. It did not put forth a polemical apologetic. He was engaging & pastoral in his style of writing. I'm thankful I picked up this book & I will be looking into other books in this series.

ridiculous

Atheists don't believe because there is no evidence. There, I just saved all you christians from having to read this absurd book. If you want to engage with an atheist, find some proof of his existence that's not just an appeal to emotion. Its the burden of the claimant to prove what he's claiming.

Another home run!

Another home run from Robby Gallaty. This is the 3rd book in his series on Discipleship. The first 2 books are "Growing Up: How to Be a Disciple Who Makes Disciples" (2013) and "Firmly Planted: How to Cultivate a Faith Rooted in Christ" (2015).

This volume is all about developing the fruit of a growing follower of Christ. I highly recommend a small group reading through this book for discussion and application.

Bearing Fruit is about Abiding in Christ

We all want to grow in maturity and fruitfulness. The question many would ask is how? What is fruitfulness? What are the impediments of such fruitful works? Making a distinction between one's status (unchanging) and one's standing (varies), we could navigate appropriately the constant tensions between being saved and the levels of our good works. The author believes that true believers will bear fruit. Based on John 15, he identifies seven places in the New Testament that contain the word 'fruit.' He describes it as follows:

The Fruit of Repentance (John 15:1)

The Fruit of Ministry (Romans 1)

The Fruit of Sanctification (Romans 6)

The Fruit of Righteousness (Philippians 1:9-11)

The Fruit of Good Works (Colossians 1:11-12)

The Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:16-17)

In Repentance, we learn about what it means to abide in Christ, depending on Jesus to help us grow by letting him tend us, nurture us, and prune us. He concludes with a comparison of Martha and Mary, urging us to live like Mary in terms of allowing God to work. Bearing fruit goes beyond mere believing toward ministry and comes through as burdens for God's ministry to people. It means recognizing the sin in us and taking steps toward escaping sin. This is well described in a powerful Warren Wiersbe quote: "The answer to the problem of sin is not simply determination, discipline, reformation, legislation, or any other human endeavor. Victory comes through crucifixion and resurrection." For one to bear fruit on all cylinders, the barrier of sin has to be overcome. Gradually, we move forward and here, Gallaty hones on a common cliche which has prevented people from growing. People often advised having consistent prayer time, Bible reading, and so on. The sad reality is that the advice are not often taken to heart. As a result, people don't grow. The key reason is a lack of direction and purpose. Growing is simply a direction closer toward God in maturity.

Guardian Angels are our most faithful friends

Very enjoyable and short book of Saints and their Guardian Angels. All of us have Guardian Angels given to watch over us at the time of our birth - body and soul. They are the source of great assistance and prayers. Sadly some people, most people, have no clue what great friends they have in their Guardian Angel.

It was interesting to read how each of the nine Saints conversed, asked for tasks to be performed by their Guardian Angels and what special assistance was given to each of them by their loving Angel. Talk with your Angel, pray with your Angel and listen to the promptings of your Angel.

Inspiring Book

Very inspiring stories of saints and their angels. I especially liked the prayers to your own guardian Angels. All in all a very lovely book, one I will read over again in times of turmoil

Just loved this book. Short stories on a select # of Saints. Not a long book. Well written. I loved the prayers at the end of each story. A really nice read
