Stop Telling and Start Listening

Listening and Parenting (Part Two)

Listen Later

Join me today for a sequel to a discussion on an earlier episode about parenting. When it comes to listening, being to be a parent who knows how to listen effectively is a gift. Listening and parenting is less about getting a report from our children about the day’s activities and is much more about creating a safe space to hear, learn, and understand what our children are experiencing and struggling with. Listening and parenting is not about fixing a problem, instead it is about helping our children learn to navigate the challenges they face and find their own solutions. Parenting is the single most important responsibility a person can accept. We all have stories about our experiences with our parents. Many of which include the commitment we make to not do “what my parents did with me!” Another strong reason for discovering how listening and parenting reduces those less than desirable childhood memories. Today’s featured guest is my daughter, Samantha Moore. Alongside her experiences as a daughter, she is a mom, and a gymnastics coach. She has experienced parenting through many different perspectives and her experiences offer refreshing insights into listening and parenting. Besides we always have great, enjoyable conversations you will want to be a part of. Come join us on today’s show, I promise you will enjoy it!
