"I'm obsessed with abandoned things."
Siena's obsession began a year and a half ago, around the time her two-year-old brother Lucca stopped talking. Now Mom and Dad are moving the family from Brooklyn to Maine hoping that it will mean a whole new start for Lucca and Siena. She soon realizes that their wonderful old house on the beach holds secrets. When Siena writes in her diary with an old pen she found in her closet, the pen writes its own story, of Sarah and Joshua, a brother and sister who lived in the same house during World War II. As the two stories unfold, amazing parallels begin to appear, and Siena senses that Sarah and Joshua's story might contain the key to unlocking Lucca's voice.

Amazing! Freaky (but awesome) sensation!
I don't know what happened to me when I read this book, but it was strange. It lifted me, took me with it. I have read many books in my life and most of them were great, but this one, it took me on an amazing journey. It was like I could see the characters, feel them around me. This book touched me in a way I will never forget. It is so sweet and so glorious and sometimes I felt like crying and other times I was just so joyous and touched. This book did strange things to me that were actually pretty cool. This is a MUST GET BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have actually started to get close to little Lucca, the young boy who doesn't talk and his older sister, Sienna, the main character. I don't want to part with this book. I had gotten to the end and it was clear that if had ended and I knew there wasn't much of a story leafy to be told but I didn't want to part with my new "friends". Suzanne, I need more of your fantastic books; NOW!!!!!! :)
Can Siena help Lucca?
At first this book may seem boring, but once you get into it is it really good. It is about Siena, a 13 year old girl. Siena is a little odd. She started having weird dreams of this house. Next, she told her parents and they found a house just like it. They move there, in hopes that it will help Siena, who doesn't have many friends, and her brother Lucca, who doesn't talk.
They move there, and Siena starts having dreams about the war and visions of two kids on the beach. Next, while unpacking, Siena finds a pen. She uses the pen, but it just writes it's own story. Through that pen, Siena is reveled to a story that happened in the past, a story of a sister and a brother. Siena thinks that the story can help Lucca. Can it?
Read the book and you will see!

It was great and kindhearted.
A good quick read with a good story about family relationships, guilt for things said in anger and on purpose by those who aren't so kind. A story about not loosing our voices in the world and encouraging others to do the same. It was so sweet and very refreshing a must, I say.
what i think about listening for Lucca
This such a good book. This is my second time reading it and I plan on reading it again. I think that it really can help people that read it.
