Lit Gaming Arena

We more spooky October gaming news for you this week! We discuss all sorts of stuff, Sony changing their confirm and cancel buttons in Japan, which launches us into discussing layouts of all controllers. Activision Blizzard closes a French Studio, we move onto used console prices, and the fact that Justin unintentionally catfishes people when he buys off of Facebook Marketplace.

We discuss the Nvidia RTX 3070 Delay, Genshin Impact not recognizing Taiwan, AMD announcing the new Ryzen 5000 line, Microsoft partnering with Gamestop, new Mortal Kombat DLC, Playstation's rework of the trophy system, and surprise news that dropped as we were recording that Microsoft is exploring bringing Game Pass to the iPhone via web browser.

It's the creepiest time of year, October, and it's time to unveil our new EXCLUSIVE October format: Creepy Gaming Arena. Almost nothing is changed from the podcast, except sometimes we talk about spooky stuff, and we have a SPOOKY new intro and outro just for this month!

This week we dive into Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Hades, Railway Empire, The Great Pretender, Ratched, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, and we ask our listeners if they've ever bought a new gaming console off of a scalper, and if it was worth it!

First off, don't forget to check out #AllTheHorror, the event we're participating in for this month raising some money for Scares That Care!

In the news we get right into the lawsuit talk between Apple and Epic Games. After that we discuss Fortnite School, aka Konami's esports school, in which Justin gets on his high horse about Bomberman 64.

We also get into the new Smash Bros fighter, which is Minecraft Steve! That's right, ANOTHER Microsoft character! Justin presents his theory on Microsoft bullying Nintendo into it.

We get into the depths of Harry Potter and The Transphobic Author, specifically comments made by a Warner Bros boss in a private Q&A. And to top off the big news, Cyberpunk 2077 developers are being forced to crunch until the game is released, mandatory 6-day workweeks! We discuss our thoughts on whether that's good, bad, or not as bad as people are making it out to be. All that and so much more!

This week is a very special episode! We're taking part in an awesome event for October called #AllTheHorror. Every day is a different episode from a different podcast and we're also raising money for Scares that Care!

We're proud to be first up this year and hopefully we set the mood for all the spooky topics to come from the many awesome podcasts particpating, and make sure you keep an eye on our Twitter for links to the other shows!

We are joined by Tim of The Cabinet Podcast and David of Dos: After You and for our episode, we take a dive into the history, content, and social impact of Slender Man, one of our favorite cryptids. We discuss everything from the inception of Slender Man on SomethingAwful to the Paranormal Tulpa Theory. Slender Man has shaped so much of what we consider to be a modern cryptid, and we discuss some other more recent cryptids that are spreading through similar means as Slender Man, like Sirenhead.

And in our second half, after David has to take off, we talk about the Ben Drowned creepypasta about a haunted The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask cartridge. We read through most of the creepypasta and discuss what's creepy about this story with Tim. It's a long and complex creepypasta that eventually turned into a full blown Alternate Reality Game (ARG) that still appears to be running to this very day, several years after it started. Our question is, is this just a big plot to pump up Cleverbot usage numbers?

In this week's episode we skipped a couple weeks to catch up to October. Don't worry, we'll still release the backlog episodes! Justin has big news, he finally bought a Switch, and Marcus, the Nintendo guy, preordered the Xbox Series X, and boy what that quite the tale. I won't spoil it for you, you just gotta listen!

Now that both console had their preorder periods, we go over the timeline of major events involving these console announcements going back to June and give you a play by play, blow by blow events in the order they happened, all the way up to the biggest news of the week, ZeniMax being bought by Microsoft, one of the biggest purchases in gaming, if not THE biggest, totaling in at $7.5 billion. Marcus shares his conspiracy how he thinks that Besthesda didn't want to be bought by Microsoft, and the big secret reason why Microsoft wanted them in the first place.

The Microsoft stuff doesn't stop there though, they announced further efforts to establish themselves in Japan, the cost and design of the Xbox Series X and S storage expansion slot, and first gen scalpers.

This week also bought some major Amazon news, they announced a new streaming service we called Stadia 2, but they called Luna. It seems better than Stadia, and unlike Xcloud, it's seemingly possible to use on iOS. Additionally Amazon announced a crazy new camera drone that is part of your Ring security system. All that and a whole lot more!

This particular episode starts out with a special LGA Game Fuel and Doritos ASMR session, please don't hate us!

After that's finally over, Marcus talks about how Battletoads actually isn't a bad game, despite his initial reaction to it. He also gets into Spiritfarer and the fact that he got the platinum trophy for Cuphead on the PS4. He also binged The Legend of Korra so we get pretty deep into what our thoughts about that entire series are.

After the break, Justin discusses Carrion, and the shows he watched, Japan Sinks 2020, and the newest Zoids anime, which he hated.
