  • The Author Mentorship

Today I am so excited to share with you the next step. I’ve been working hard to bring you this amazing program and I hope to work with you during this first round of enrollment.

Introducing the LiteraryScape Author Mentorship. Designed for the aspiring historical Christian romance author, it’s the only one of its kind. This mentorship offers step-by-step guidance and one-on-one coaching to launch your author career with success.

Inside The LiteraryScape Author Mentorship I’m going to lead you by the hand through the process of writing your novel, building your author platform, and publishing your book so you can build a sustainable income as a full-time author.

I understand how learning the rules of creative writing, building an author platform, and marketing your book can feel like trying to make your home in a foreign country where you don’t know the language. When you join the LiteraryScape Author Mentorship, I’ll guide you home and translate for you.

Let’s look at what’s inside the LiteraryScape Mentorship so you can see why this program is the next step for aspiring authors like you and how you can leverage what you learn to not only launch your author career but sustain and grow it!

The program is 18 months long and includes 3 phases each, 6 months long:

    Phase 1: The Writing Process

Phase 2: Building Your Author Platform

Phase 3: Launching and Marketing Your Book

Let’s take a closer look at each phase.

Phase 1: The Writing Process: The Mentorship provides training on how to develop characters readers love, a strong and believable plot, and a tight feedback loop. During Phase 1, you’ll write your novel and a magnet reader. I will provide you with a developmental edit before you send it off to an editor of your choice for the line editing, and proofreading. You will also begin to work with a cover designer to create the perfect cover for your amazing novel.

Phase 2: Building Your Author Platform: A solid platform is key to launching a successful author career, however it has a lot of moving pieces. The Mentorship provides training for how to build each aspect of your platform, along with step-by-step guidance. I’ll also explore various revenue avenues you can pursue to set you up for financial success as a full-time author.

Phase 3: Launching and Marketing Your Book: In general, we, as authors, tend to avoid the whole marketing process, simply because it is out of our comfort zone. The Mentorship will help you build a solid marketing plan to not only launch your book but maintain continuous sales.

The best part of the mentorship is when you finish all 3 phases, you’ll have a step-by-step process you can repeat for every book you write and publish.

You might be thinking . . . sounds great, but can she really guarantee my author career will launch with success?

The truth . . . no, but it’s not because the program isn’t designed for it, but rather it takes hard work and perseverance on your part too.

What I can guarantee is that you’ll walk away with your first book launched and your readers primed for the next one. You'll be equipped with the knowledge and skills to meet your readers' needs and grow your author career with clarity and confidence.

Let’s pump the brakes and address those questions I am sure are asking right now. I know you are questioning this program because I have been there myself. I almost missed out on an incredible mentorship that brought my online business to life simply because I had doubts and objections.

So, let’s dig into some of those questions now.

    What’s the time commitment?

My goal is to help you write a novel, build your author platform, and launch and market your book in 18 months. This is an accelerated program because I want you to get results fast—but not at a pace that kills you or generates sloppy results.

The first six months are spent developing your writing craft as you create your characters, plot, and draft your novel. During this time, you’ll have video courses on writing craft, handouts to guide your planning, and bi-weekly one-on-one calls with me for feedback.

That means for the first four to six weeks you’ll be in training and beginning to develop your characters and plot. I estimate you’ll put in 8-10 hours a week.

For the next eighteen to twenty weeks, you will draft and revise your novel, with bi-weekly one-on-one calls with me. This is the most intensive part of the writing process where you will put in 10-12 hours a week.

Phase 2: Building Your Author Platform kicks off the next six months in your journey. This phase will have several training videos as you explore options for your author platform and learn the how and why behind each piece that forms a solid platform to launch from.

During this time, you’ll continue to schedule bi-weekly one-on-one calls with me for feedback and assistance. There are many moving pieces to your author platform, so I estimate you will spend 8-10 hours a week working on building it.

Phase 3: Launching and Marketing is the most exciting part of your journey as you put all your hard work into action and watch it take off. However, this can also be the most intensive.

You’ll be creating swipe copy and images to share with your launch team, drafting and scheduling email campaigns and social media posts, scheduling podcast interviews, and creating ads. This part of the phase will take 12-14 hours a week to accomplish.

When you break the time down, you are looking at spending anywhere between 2-4 hours a day working on writing a novel, building your author platform, and launching and marketing your book. That’s sounds manageable to most of us, right? Especially when you look at the return on your time investment.

How do I justify the cost?

This was a big objection for me. Becky’s mentorship was the first ‘BIG’ investment I had made for my business training. It was hard for me to justify the cost when my business wasn’t making money. However, God provided a way, and I am so thankful because now LiteraryScape doesn't rely on our personal checking account for funding.

I want you to experience the same thing with your writing. Many times, it gets stuck in hobby land, and you soon realize this hobby is draining your personal funds.

What if you invested those funds not only into your writing skills, but in your knowledge and skills to make a profit from your writing?

Sounds like a pretty good return on your investment, right? That’s because it is. The LiteraryScape Author Mentorship doesn’t just help you craft a great novel, it gives you the knowledge and tools to make a profit from the sales of your book. Not only that, but you walk away with the ability to replicate this process for every book you write.

Will I make my money back?

This is a great question and one I want to answer honestly because I didn’t build this program with a profit mindset, but rather a servant’s mindset.

Yes, I want to make a profit from this program to pay the bills, but my number one focus is you and helping you reach success in your author career.

With that being said, I do not offer a money back guarantee. This is not because you won’t make the money back that you invested, but it takes time and hard work on your part.

I have no doubt that if you put in the hard work and continue to effectively utilize the knowledge and skills you gain from my mentorship, you will not only earn back what you’ve invested, but you’ll go beyond it.

Think of it as college. Many of us invested $40,000 or more in our careers when we attended college. Never did we expect to earn that money back as soon as we graduated.

The LiteraryScape Author Mentorship is a five-figure investment in your author career that will pay you back over time.

Please note that I do NOT suggest you go into debt with my mentorship program. I have the total cost broken into manageable monthly payments. This is something we can discuss during your discovery call.

What if I already have my novel written?

That’s wonderful! You’ll be able to start on Phase 2 right away.

I realize everyone is entering this program at a different starting point, and each person moves at their own pace. Therefore, you have access to all 3 phases from the start of your mentorship. This allows you to move to the section you are ready for.

I have also built in what I like to call check-up appointments every six months. This allows both you and I to evaluate how things are going so far and what the next best step is for you.

It really is a win-win for everyone!

Do you help authors who want to be independently published or traditionally published?

    Both!

The mentorship is primarily designed for authors seeking to publish independently, but prepares those who want to be traditionally published as well.

You’ll finish the mentorship with the knowledge and skills to publish, market, and sell your books independently. You can use those same skill sets to develop a proposal, platform, and marketing plan that is irresistible to agents and publishers.

I love to support and encourage authors as they seek to publish the stories God has laid on their hearts. So, whether you want to publish independently or traditionally, I’m here to help!

So, what to do if you are even a smidgen interested?

Join me for a discovery call to see if the LiteraryScape Author Mentorship is the next step for you. There’s no commitment at this point. I’ll just walk you through the mentorship, answer any questions you have, and show you what it would look like to work together.

Then take time to talk to your spouse and pray to see if this is the next step God wants you to take in your author career.

Due to the mentorship's one-on-one service, there are a limited number of spots available. Book your call today by clicking the button below this blog post. Then, if after the call you decide this is the next step, you simply send me an email and we will start the process.

Be sure to sign-up for my newsletter to receive more details in your inbox. The last day to book your discovery call will be Friday, January 12th. We will begin the mentorship on February 12th.

I hope to work with you during the next chapter of your author career!

Until next time happy and blessed writing!

  • A Fight for Faith

    Announcements:

    ·      Merry Christmas everyone! I cannot believe we are just 3 days away from celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

    ·      Let’s pray and then jump into this week’s inspiring book discussion. God you are so amazing. Thank you for your never-ending love and forgiveness. Be with each of us as we celebrate the birth of your son Jesus Christ. Let our hearts overflow with joy as we share the good news of the gospel of Christ. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

    Podcast Notes:

In this episode Tiffanie, Jamie, and Melissa discuss Faith in Cripple Creek by Sara R. Turnquist. This is the third book in her Cripple Creek series.

This is the story Sara’s readers have been waiting for. Finally, we get to take the journey with Timothy as he finds his lady love. As much as we’ve loved all the other characters in Sara’s Cripple Creek series, we each held a special place for Timothy. I think it had a lot do with watching his heart shatter when Katherine married Wyatt.

Which brings me to a key element woven throughout this story, forgiveness. Sara overflows these pages with forgiveness. We all know that Timothy struggles with bestowing forgiveness to Wyatt and Katherine. When you meet Timothy’s lady love Jane, you’ll find her struggling with forgiving others from her past as well.

Sara brings such depth and reality to Timothy’s struggle with God and his faith, which was shattered when he lost Katherine to Wyatt. He wrestles with God for quite a while, but God gets his man in the end.

Readers cannot walk away from Timothy’s arduous journey without feeling renewed in their faith.

Mark 11:22-26: “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

LiteraryScape gives Faith in Cripple Creek 3 out of 3 lassos! We are sure this Timothy’s love story will have you hooked and hog-tied from beginning to end.

    For Readers and Writers:

    ·      Christmas is just around the corner and today’s episode highlights the true reason we celebrate this season, Jesus Christ. Isn’t it just amazing when you stop and think about how much God loves you and me? He left His throne in Heaven to be with us. It gives me chills just thinking about it. I wanted to remind everyone that our inspirational Monday moments will return after the first of the year. We have some great topics and scripture for you. Be sure to sign-up for the LiteraryScape newsletter to receive these inspirational moments every week.

    ·      Let’s pray and then hop into this inspirational book discussion. Dear Lord, thank you for leaving your throne in Heaven to save us from our sins. I ask that you would be with each of us as we celebrate this Christmas season with family and friends. Soften our hearts toward you and help us to keep our focus on you during this busy holiday season. In Jesus name I pray amen.

    Podcast Notes:

In this episode Tiffanie, Jamie, and Melissa discuss the second novel in Sara R. Turnquists Cripple Creek series titled, Christmas in Cripple Creek.

If you enjoy sweet Christmas romances where the hero and leading lady overcome many obstacles to find the true meaning of Christmas at the finish line, then this is the book for you.

Sara keeps Wyatt and Katherine’s love and family at the center of this Christmas story. Like all families and relationships, we hit rough patches, and sometimes it feels like we can’t catch a break. Yet when we finally crawl out of the valley and stand on the mountain top with Jesus, we can turn to Him and say thank you. That’s because from the mountain top view we can finally see how He refined us in the valley to make us more like Him.

I can’t help but pause in my writing and sit in awe of all Jesus has done for you and me? I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to celebrate His birthday with friends and family!

    Now back to the book!

Sara takes Wyatt and Katherine through this miraculous valley and mountaintop experience; in ways you would not expect. I have to say this book held the most surprises out of all her Cripple Creek books. In the end you’ll fall more in love with these two characters and their family, and you’ll be inspired by the way they live out their faith in God.

Matthew 1:20-23: But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”—which means, “God with us.”

Joseph and Mary lived out their faith in God as well. What an incredible testimony they left behind.

  • A Quiet Faith
In this episode Tiffanie, Jamie, and Melissa discuss the second novella in
Sara R. Turnquist’s Cripple Creek series, Leaving StoneyBrook.
This novella picks up with Tom and Lauren’s son, David. You’ll enjoy seeing
the ranch and family Tom and Lauren have built for themselves. We loved how
they turned out as parents, and you will too.

  • The Beginning of a Legacy

In this episode Tiffanie, Jamie, and Melissa discuss Leaving Waverly by Sara R. Turnquist. This is the first prequel in her Cripple Creek series.

If you listen to this podcast episode, you’ll find it insightful, intriguing, and concise. We enjoyed this fast-paced love story with Tom and Lauren. Their first encounter is unique and very heart touching.

You’ll enjoy Lauren’s faith and boldness as she pushes back against her father’s iron rule over the plantation. At the same time, you’ll despise her father and mother for their treatment of Lauren and others. However, like all good stories, he will redeem himself.

Tom is quite the headstrong young man looking to strike out on his own. He loves his family but doesn’t want to follow in his father’s footsteps. Interestingly enough, he’ll discover how his actions made his father feel later on in the series when we meet his son David.

A sharecropper and the plantation owner’s daughter are an unlikely match, but against all odds their love wins out.

LiteraryScape gives Leaving Waverly 3 lassos. We are sure you’ll be hooked, and hog tied throughout this fast-paced novella.

  • Saving Scarlett

In this episode Tiffanie, Jamie, and Melissa will be discussing the novella Scarlett from Kathleen Ball’s series, The Settlers.

We finally make it to Scarlett’s story, but let’s be honest she isn’t anyone’s favorite character. So far in the series she has been rude with her snide remarks. Not to mention the way she looks down at others.

It’s a bit surprising that anyone would take her on as a wife. However, she’s more like a mail order bride and Dillon has no idea what he is getting himself into. His complete lack of understanding women does not help their marriage get off on the right foot either.

For once Scarlett receives the same treatment she’s been doling out on others. Eventually her walls begin to break down, but not before her life teeters between here and heaven.

We all agreed that Scarlett grew on us and in the end, we liked her. So, don’t let your initial opinion of her keep you from reading her story.

Dillon was the kind of husband every woman wanted; except he was a bit dense at first when it came to women. Apparently, he was the man every woman in town wanted even after he married Scarlett. Yet he didn’t see it. Which of course leads to some very interesting scenes.

LiteraryScape gives Scarlett 2.5 lassos out of 3.

  • Platinum Rule

Before we begin our inspirational moment, I wanted to let you know that I have some special announcements at the end of this episode that you don’t want to miss!

Alright, welcome back to another inspirational message from historical Christian romance novels.

Luke 6: 27-36 – “But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.”

“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ lend to ‘sinners’ expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”

Whew! That was a long section of passage, but you need to hear it all to fully understand what Jesus was saying and telling His followers to do. This Friday’s book club episode features the novella Scarlett from Kathleen Ball’s series, The Settlers. If you’ve read the series, then you know Scarlett is bitter and just plain mean to everyone. She gets a taste of being on the receiving end of her treatment of others. Thankfully she comes out for the better as she works to apply the golden rule: Do unto others as you would have done unto you.

I have to pause and say how much I love God and the way He engineers our circumstances. I was working through what I wanted to write for our inspirational moment and low and behold Pastor Jim preached on the golden rule two Sundays ago confirming what God laid on my heart. Not only that but he shed some light on this passage that I think you will enjoy. Let’s dig into Luke 6:27-36!

We all know the golden rule and live by it to the best of our ability, yet Jesus called us to go beyond the golden rule when He asked: “If you love those who love you what credit is it to you?”

Wow! What a powerful question. He follows that question up by flushing this idea out more when he points out even ‘sinners’ love those who love them. To exemplify God’s love to others we have to go beyond the golden rule to what Pastor Jim calls the platinum rule.

Love is more than giving so that you get something back. What Jesus is describing in this passage is agape love: to love without expecting anything back. I must stop and ask: Does this sound foreign or radical to you? It did to me because my natural human response is to go above and beyond for those that show love to me, but in turn restrict love and kindness to my enemies. In fact, retribution consumes my mind when I think about my enemies not love. Yet Pastor Jim pointed out that if we spent as much time praying as we do with retribution we’d turn the world upside down with Christ’s love.

Let’s look at this platinum rule Jesus is calling us to live out.

    1.     Love your enemies. Do good to those that hate you.

    a.     This is agape love. To love without expecting anything back.

    2.     Bless those who curse you.

    a.     Speak well of those who curse you.

    3.     Pray for those who mistreat you.

    4.     Turn your cheek.

    a.     This means to respond with gentleness.

    5.     If they take your coat, give them your shirt.

    a.     Don’t hang onto earthly possessions.

    6.     Give to everyone who asks and don’t demand it back.

    a.     When you lend someone a tool or money, don’t get bent out of shape when it doesn’t come back.

Love without worrying about what you want, but what they want. Genuine Godly love exceeds the world’s standard of love. Therefore, the platinum rule is: Love without expecting anything in return.

Jesus didn’t stop at the golden rule but asked us to go beyond what even ‘sinners’ do. Some may ask why should I do this? You have no idea what that person has done to me! Yes, he does. Jesus endured slander, insults, and physical beatings from His enemies, yet He still loved them enough to suffer death on a cross for them, for you, and for me.

Not only does Jesus call us to shower our enemies in love, but to be merciful just as God is merciful. We earn a reward in Heaven for living out the platinum rule. God rewards our obedience with crowns in Heaven, that we get to turn around and lay down on Jesus’s feet. This is because we don’t do this for ourselves but for Jesus.

When we show agape love to friend and foe, we look like Jesus and doesn’t the world need Him desperately right now.

I’ll leave with this final thought: The golden rule is me centered. The platinum rule is others centered.
