In case we didn’t notice, there’s a national election next month.  One observer noted that sometimes politicians say ANYTHING they can think of if the believe it will help them get elected.  We can expect promises to be made… all kinds of promises.  During our “That’s Promising” series, we’ll be focusing on promises that are bigger than anything we can expect during even the most heated election season.  Hearing God’s promises might be just what we need right about now when it comes to staying grounded and living by faith our highest values and purposes.

Humility is a prerequisite for transformation - it makes room for God’s mercy, love, and grace.  With it, there's room for the Spirit to be at work.  This is the good news of Jesus modeled in the life of Paul.

Let’s pursue God together in response to God pursuing us.

In the Gospels, Peter teaches us that lives of consistency aren't required for God to use us.  Try as we might, our actions don't always match up to our beliefs, yet God still wants us to be a part of His work.  Can you identify with that paradox?  Maybe we all can relate to Peter too.

"Oh, Lord, please send someone else."  Those might have been the words you cried out in frustration this week, but they're also the words spoken by Moses when he found out what God was calling him to.  Moses was faced with a life-altering change in that moment.  His response and God's reply speak to us even today.

Is your life being redefined these days?  Are situations and circumstances around you changing so many of your plans?  What does it look like to seek God, to truly trust him, in the midst of the change we're experiencing?

This year has had its fair share of stress - politics, a pandemic, racism, protesting, the list could go on.  In this midst of all of this, how are we supposed to follow Jesus's command to "not worry"?  How in the world, in this world, are we supposed to have peace?  Let's share together in how to live in a way that truly matters.
