Why is praying so hard at times? If we are supposed to find joy in it then why do I not desire to do it? Why can’t God just talk to me? These are questions that used to flood my thoughts. I used to do the “right Christian thing,” like talk to strangers and do random acts of kindness in hope to show them Jesus. While there is nothing wrong with that I began to realize I was making projects out of people. Someone told me something about the way they view others, that has totally changed the trajectory of how I love others in a radical way.

Being a Christian is just simply hard sometimes. Sometimes it’s hard to say no to a “fun night out,” sometimes it’s hard to say no to the norm. I used to sugar coat this and say “well, not hard just challenging, but I’m grateful,” while this is true, it is just plain hard at times. Something I have learned is you have to have confidence in the hard, confidence and trust knowing that your no’s and yes’s have an eternal effect.

Often times we put God in the corner in our lives, while He wants us to welcome Him into all of it. I use to feel bad for having negative emotions to God, but then I learned you can feel your feelings and still know your truth. The truth, He knows more than I. People pleasing is something I fall into a lot. Though the idea of pleasing others can seem selfless, it really is all about self.
