Every Day I Have is a Gift
Samirah Lundgren has hit rock bottom, and is broken heart and soul, to the point that she doesn't want to think about things that should matter like convictions, morals, ethics and family. Michael Salinger has a broken body due to a spinal cord injury, and broken heart due to the rejection of his fiance due to his life changing condition. âA car may have broken my body, but Lainie broke my heart.â These two unlikely people find themselves needing each other, at a very low point in both their lives. Can two strangers who fate seems to have brought together, really start to heal each other?
I enjoy mismatched couple's stories. This book was realistic in the difficulties both of them would have, and need to overcome. I enjoyed the journey of their story. I appreciated Michael's attitude. âThere are some things about it that suck, but I'm lucky to be alive. Every day I have is a gift.â Samirah, in a small voice, she says, âI wasn't a good person, but least now, I'm trying.â I really liked the book and hope you will read and enjoy, too.
One for the keeper shelf.
4.5 stars. When I first picked up this book I was hesitant about the favt that it was written in the first person perspective... But as I got into the story and characters that was not a problem. Both the main characters were realistic, engaging and interesting. the scene when they met was hilarious and original. You can tell that the author has done her research quite well.
*Trigger warning* the book does talk about sexual assault and the resulting trauma afterwards. I feel like the author did an excellent job of making sure it was realistic but at the same time, the actual scene doesn't get too explicit. (And I'm super glad it didn't!)
" Loved the story
I just finished "Live for this." Loved the story...the characters were so broken, but they found each other by fate. I love happily ever after stories. This would be an awesome movie. Great job!
What do you do when the worst happens?
I loved this book! No spoilers here, but this story shares some hardships that we all hope to never deal with, and how two people developed the courage and fortitude to move on. It was a very real and uplifting story, my new favorite by Kathryn.
I loved the character development
For me this book was a pure perfection although it dealt with tough issues. I loved the character development, especially how Samirah realises her past mistakes, deals with trauma and tries to become a better person.
