The material principle of the Reformation is found in Romans 5:1. This is the principle of Faith which is the cornerstone of Christianity. It is the key that unlocks all the other Solas. Without faith, it is impossible to please God : we can never earn his favour or forgiveness by works. Only by faith in Christ, are we justified and deemed righteous in the sight of God.
The incredible truth of the gospel message hinges on the amazing gift of grace. By grace, we have been saved - and this is not something to be earned but is a gift freely given by God and received through faith! By the 16th century, this truth had been discarded and replaced by the belief that grace must be earned. The Reformation was a pivotal church history in order to turn eyes and hearts back to the foundations of the Christian faith, and to Grace Alone.

In the wake of the pandemic, the idea of social gatherings faded, but we continued to long for them. We missed the smiles of patrons, for the cheerful spirit in friendships, and the God-inspiring power of prayer in the church. As technology helped soothe the pain of restrictions, we may be tempted to forget the importance of church gatherings. In this message, Pastor Robbie expounds on the beauty and grace it is to see churches gather in the Lord's name.
We continue today in our study of that remarkable and historic event in the history of the Protestant Church - the Reformation. Pastor Robbie turns our attention to the next of the Five Solas - Solo Cristo or 'Christ Alone'. Listen as we explore why Solo Christo has often been referred to as the 'linchpin' of the Five Solas. Obedience is the manifestation of our faith. As we abide in Christ, he promises to abide in us. God takes great pleasure by working in and through us to produce fruit, and in turn we are blessed! What a comfort to know that we cannot work out our salvation by our own effort, but by God's enabling grace and power alone. He is our strength, our help and our salvation and will shine his light through those who trust and follow him with authentic and humble hearts.
How do we handle conflict? We can get swept up in trying to protect our reputation, retreating, or we can step into our role as ambassadors for Christ and seek the Kingdom. In this passage, Paul experiences a huge pushback from Ephesians for sharing God's identity. The Ephesians see the gospel as a threat to their manmade kingdoms. While our flesh may understand, it's crucial for us to follow the Spirit's leading above all else.
