The theme throughout the old testament is that of the coming Messiah. We learn in today's passage that Jesus - the Messiah - came not to negate the law, but instead, as the fulfillment of all the law and the prophets. He is the true Messiah for whom the people had long-awaited. Jesus came to rescue us from the penalty of sin and provide us with the true righteousness that leads to everlasting life, something we could never attain on our own but is only available by grace through faith. Christ is the "yes' answer to all the promises of God!
What do you do with the truth you know? The truth that dwells within you and spoke the world into existence cannot be confined to a manmade structure. As believers, we must seek to sow seeds amongst our friends, neighbours, and family. In the midst of distractions and idolatry, the Lord shines a light that shatters darkness.

As genuine followers of Christ, we are called to be salt and light in the world, but what does this actually mean? Just as salt was used as a preservative in Jesus' time, Christians are also to live lives that preserve morality and slow the spiritual decay we see in the current culture of this world. We also are to be light in this world, shining it through good works so that Christ receives the glory. In today's message, Pastor Robbie examines and exposits this important call on the life of the Christ-follower.

Jesus was the greatest peacemaker of all time, and thus given the name, "Prince of Peace". Through his death and resurrection, Christ reconciled sinful man to God, and peace was made with God. As believers seek to conform more and more into his image, it only follows that we, in turn, are also called to be peacemakers. We are reminded through today's message how Christ came to bring peace, yet suffered extreme persecution in doing so. We too as Christians, should expect to experience the same as we stand for him and are obedient to his word. Paul informs us in 2 Timothy 3:12, "Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted". In this last of the Beatitudes, take heart in knowing that when persecuted for righteousness sake, God's blessing will result!
