In this episode we are joined by special guest Professor Paul Gilbert ( FBPsS, PhD, OBE).
A British clinical psychologist that for over 40 years he has researched evolutionary approaches to psychopathology. With a main focus on mood, shame, self-criticism and the difficulties that these present for mental health.
He’s published/edited 21 books and over 200 academic research papers focusing human compassion. This has led to the development of compassionate focused therapy and establishing the compassionate mind foundation with his colleagues in 2006. Through this charity they support the research and teaching of compassion, explaining it’s scientific understanding and its applications. In 2011 he was awarded an OBE for his continued contribution in mental healthcare.
