I cannot believe who I have as my guest this week.
None other than Mark Ormrod
In this captivating episode, I had the privilege of hosting Mark Ormrod, a former Royal Marine Commando who defied the odds after becoming a triple amputee in a life-altering incident. Mark's journey from the front lines to becoming an inspirational figure is nothing short of remarkable.
Transitioning to his post-military life, Mark talked about his involvement in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a passion that turned into an outlet for both physical and mental well-being.
Mark's determination led him to train with specialists in the United States, ultimately transitioning away from a wheelchair in 2009. His resilience and commitment to overcoming challenges became evident during an intense three-week training session in the U.S., which he likened to the toughness of Marine training.
The interview concluded with a discussion about Mark's approach to parenting and instilling resilience in his children. Despite the challenges, Mark emphasized the importance of experiencing loss and discomfort to build character and resilience.
This episode is a testament to Mark Ormrod's indomitable spirit and serves as an inspiring narrative of triumph over adversity, resilience, and the power of a positive mindset.

Mark Ormrod, an award-winning author, coach, mentor, motivational speaker, and sought-after ambassador, hails from Plymouth, Devon. In 2001, he fulfilled his lifelong ambition by joining the Royal Marines.
On Christmas Eve 2007, Mark's life took a drastic turn while serving in Afghanistan with 40 Commando Royal Marines. A victim of an Improvised Explosive Device, he suffered the traumatic amputation of both legs and his right arm, being twice pronounced dead.
In an extraordinary feat, Mark became the first triple amputee to survive on the battlefield. Despite being told he would never walk again, he defied the odds and marched onto parade on his new prosthetic limbs, receiving his Operational Service Medal just 14 weeks after sustaining his injuries in the presence of HRH the Duke of Edinburgh.
Mark continued his service in the Royal Marines for the next three years, contributing significantly to the RMA – The Royal Marines Charity. He played a pivotal role in launching the charity's new shop, excelling in the Membership team, and establishing a notable social media presence.
Remarkably, Mark maintains an unwaveringly positive outlook on his condition, never uttering a negative comment. His resilience and determination shine through as he continually challenges himself, participating in various endurance challenges to raise awareness for wounded veterans. He is also a multiple medal-winner at the Invictus Games.
Mark's influence extends beyond military circles, motivating thousands of Royal Marines and tens of thousands of others to reach their full potential. Through his drive, motivation, and unwavering positivity, Mark Ormrod has not only achieved his goals but has become a beacon of inspiration for countless others.
