  • 128: Trusting God Was Easier In My Head

We all have ideas about how our lives should unfold. The timeline, the career, motherhood, marriage, and the plans we think we're working toward. But what happens when things don't go the way we imagined?

In this episode of Live Rooted, we're talking about learning to hold our plans a little more loosely, trusting God when His direction looks different from our expectations, and finding contentment in the season we're actually living. I'm also sharing something that's really stuck with me from my study of Joshua and what it teaches us about taking the next step in faith, even when we can't see the whole picture.

Sometimes we get so focused on the life we thought we'd have that we miss what's happening right in front of us and maybe different doesn't always mean wrong.

If you're navigating a season that looks nothing like you expected, I hope this conversation encourages you to loosen your grip, trust God with what's next, and be present in the life you're living today.

  • 127: Walking Through Job Loss As A Family

What happens when life takes a turn you never saw coming?

In May, Nathan lost his job, and suddenly our family was navigating a season filled with uncertainty and a whole lot of questions about what came next. Because the truth is, job loss doesn't just affect the person who loses their job. It affects the entire family.

In this episode of Live Rooted, I'm sharing what that season really looked like for us. Supporting Nathan while processing my own emotions, having hard conversations with our kids, and learning to trust God when we couldn't see what was ahead. But in the middle of something we never would have chosen, we were also given an unexpected gift: three months together as a family, a summer full of memories, and a front-row seat to God's provision in ways we couldn't have imagined.

I'm still working through parts of this story, and I don't have every lesson neatly wrapped up. But if you're walking through job loss, unexpected change, or a season of uncertainty, I hope this conversation encourages you. You don't have to know how your story ends to trust God in the middle of it.

  • 126: This Wasn't Part of The Plan

If you had asked me a year ago what I thought our life would look like today, I don't think I would have gotten much of it right. So much changed that I didn't plan for—our home, work, school, family rhythms, and what I thought the future would look like. And for a while, I kept thinking that once we got through the next thing, life would finally feel settled again.

But somewhere along the way, I started realizing that being rooted isn't the same thing as having a settled life.

In the very first episode of Live Rooted, I'm sharing what this past year has taught me about holding my plans a little more loosely, making decisions that are right for our family, trusting God when I can't see what He's doing, and learning to be present in the life that's happening right in front of me.

I'm still learning a lot of this in real time. I don't have a perfect lesson or a five step plan for navigating change. But I'm beginning to understand that a rooted life doesn't have to be an unchanging one.

Sometimes the deepest growth is happening underneath the surface in the seasons when we can't see what God is doing yet. If you're walking through a season that looks nothing like you thought it would, this conversation is for you.

  • Live Rooted Trailer

Hi friends I'm Claudia McDivitt, your host of the Live Rooted podcast. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that life isn't built in the big moments, it's built in the ordinary ones.

It's built at dinner around the table, conversations in the car, walks around the neighborhood, baseball games, homeschool mornings, date nights, hard seasons, answered prayers, and the quiet moments when God reminds us He's still at work.

To me, living rooted is about how we choose to show up in our everyday lives. We're not chasing perfection or trying to do more. And I'm certainly not here because I have life figured out. I'm here because I believe the small choices we make every day shape the life we're building.

It's choosing to be intentional in our marriages, our parenting, our health, our faith, our friendships, and even the really ordinary parts of our days. Because life is always changing, but when we know what we're rooted in, we can grow through every season that comes our way.

So grab your coffee, lace up your walking shoes, or settle in for the drive. I'm really thankful you're here, and I hope this podcast encourages you to live deeply, love well, and stay rooted in what matters most.

  • 125: Okay, We Need To Catch Up

It's been a minute and we have a lot to catch up on.

After taking some time away from the podcast, I'm popping back in for a quick life update and to share some pretty exciting changes coming to the show.

This summer has held a little bit of everything for our family...the good, the hard, a lot of change, and plenty of moments where we weren't quite sure what was coming next. We've moved, navigated a job transition for Nathan, stepped into a completely new school rhythm with our kids, and learned a whole lot along the way.

I'm keeping today's conversation at the 30,000-foot level because there are stories from this season that I'm really looking forward to sharing with you soon. But maybe the biggest update? The podcast is changing, too.

Boldly Living Your Everyday is becoming Live Rooted! A place for real life and honest conversations about marriage, motherhood, faith, family, health, changing seasons, and all the things we're figuring out along the way.

In this episode, I'm sharing a little of where we've been, why this change feels right, and what you can expect when the show officially returns this fall.

    A few dates to remember:

September 22 — The new Live Rooted trailer releases October 6 — Live Rooted officially begins with When Life Doesn't Go as Planned October 6–November 24 — New episodes every Tuesday for our first 8-week run

    I'm really thankful you're still here. I can't wait for what's ahead.

  • 124: Life Update Before Taking A Podcast Break

I'm sharing a personal life update and giving you a little behind the scenes look at what this season has looked like for our family. From selling my mom's house, selling our house, buying a new one, moving, and transitioning one kid into hybrid school, this year has been full of big decisions, unexpected emotions, and moments that have stretched me in ways I didn't expect. It's been one of those seasons where life feels both exciting and overwhelming at the same time, and I wanted to sit down and share a 30,000 foot view of what the last several months have looked like for us.

More than anything, this episode is about what the Lord is teaching me in the middle of change, uncertainty, and transition. I'm sharing some honest reflections about trust, faith, priorities, and learning to walk faithfully even when there are so many moving pieces. If you're in a season that feels heavy, busy, or full of decisions, I hope this conversation encourages you to slow down, breathe, and remember that God is present in all of it. I'll be taking a podcast break for the summer, but I'm excited to be back this fall with fresh episodes and conversations. Thank you for being here and for being part of this community!

  • 122: 3 Healthy Habits for Busy Women Who Don't Have Extra Time

In this episode, I'm sharing three simple, practical habits that can help you stay consistent with your health when life gets busy. Many women feel like they need more time, a perfect routine, or extra motivation to take care of themselves, but the truth is that a few foundational habits can make a big difference even during the busiest seasons of life. Instead of overcomplicating things, focusing on a few key behaviors can help you stay on track and feel better day to day.

I'm talking about the habits that I personally lean on when schedules get full, including planning meals ahead of time, choosing movement that fits your life, and being intentional about rest. These simple strategies help remove decision fatigue and make healthy choices easier, even when you're juggling work, family, and everything else on your plate. If you've been feeling off track or overwhelmed, this episode will encourage you to simplify and focus on what truly works.

  • 121: Motherhood From The Sidelines: What Sports Mom Life Is Teaching Me

In this episode, I'm sharing a personal reflection on sports mom life and the lessons it's teaching me about motherhood. A lot of this season of life is spent on the sidelines. At baseball fields, soccer fields, and in the car driving to practices and games. While it can feel busy and full at times, it's also given me a front row seat to watch my kids try hard things, grow in confidence, and learn important life lessons through sports.

I'm talking about the things this season is teaching me about showing up, being present, and appreciating the moments that can sometimes feel chaotic but are actually incredibly meaningful. If you're in a busy season of motherhood, this episode is a reminder that even the sidelines can hold some of the most special moments.

  • 120: Navigating Loss While Focusing On Your Health With Jamie Winfree

Grief has a way of shaking everything, our routines, our emotions, and even our sense of self. When life hits hard, how do you keep showing up for yourself without guilt? How do you hold onto your health and well-being while walking through unimaginable loss?

In today's episode, I'm joined by my dear friend and longtime client, Jaime Winfree. Jaime has been on a health journey with me since 2020, seeing incredible results and feeling her best. But over the past two years, she's faced heartbreaking loss. Two being her brother's leukemia diagnosis (now in remission, by God's grace) and losing her dad after a long battle with ALS.

Jaime knows firsthand how easy it is to put yourself last in seasons of grief. But she's also learned how to extend grace, prioritize her well-being, and navigate loss without losing herself. Her story is one of resilience, faith, and choosing joy even in the hardest moments.

If you've ever walked through a season of loss or felt like you couldn't prioritize yourself when life got hard, this episode is for you. Jaime's story will encourage you, challenge you, and remind you that taking care of yourself isn't selfish, it's necessary.
