Living4.Love: Notes, Episode 7
Dear heart,
I remember sitting in my car during my lunch break crying.
I was in my late twenties. Six figures. The title. The office. The suit I had always wanted to wear when I grew up. From the outside, everything looked exactly the way it was supposed to look. And there I was, trying to get myself together before lunch was over because people were waiting for me and there was work to do.
So I did what I knew how to do. I checked my face in the mirror, took a breath, opened the car door, and went back inside.
And I performed.
That’s the part we don’t always talk about. Performance works, at least for a while. And people reward you for it. They promote you. They call you strong. They pile on more work. And sometimes you take that praise as evidence that everything is okay.
I know I did.
But here’s what I’ve learned since then: a strength can become a survival strategy when you no longer know how to put it down. And when you’ve been performing long enough, it stops feeling like performance. It just feels like personality.
I’m just responsible. I’m just independent. I just like things done correctly. It’s easier if I do it myself.
Sound familiar?
This episode is about that. About what happens when the performance that kept you safe, that earned you love and approval and a place in the room, starts costing you more than it’s giving. About what healing actually requires, and why it’s more inconvenient than we’d like it to be. About the woman underneath all the adaptations, and why she’s worth finding.
In this episode we explore:
* The woman in the car, and why the question isn’t what was wrong with her but what happened that made this way of being make sense
* Why performance works, and why that’s exactly what makes it so hard to put down
* How a strength becomes a survival strategy, and the moment you realize you don’t know how to stop
* What it means that healing gets inconvenient, and why sometimes it asks not what you need to add but what you need to stop
* The Soul Bloom Method’s first movement, Unearth, and why we have to honor a pattern before we can release it
* Why you can do enormous amounts of inner work and walk right back into an environment that expects the old version of you
* What a safe container actually does, and why sometimes you need a room where the old role simply isn’t required
* What wholeness really means, not eliminating one side of yourself but making room for all of yourself
Your soul inquiry for this week:
Think of one role you play really well. Just one.
The strong one. The good daughter. The perfect mother. The successful executive. The peacemaker. The dependable friend. The one who never needs anyone. The one who always knows what to do.
And ask yourself:
When did I learn that I needed to be this? What has this role given me? What has it cost me? And who might I be if I didn’t have to perform this role all the time?
Don’t rush that last one. You may not know yet, and that’s okay. Maybe not knowing is exactly where it begins.
Because healing isn’t another performance. You don’t have to become the best healer or win at spiritual awakening. You don’t have to be perfectly balanced or turn your healing into another achievement. You need room to tell the truth, room to feel, and perhaps a container where you can practice being someone who doesn’t have to earn her place in the room.
If this episode found something in you, you might be ready for a different kind of container.
Soul Bloom Retreats are sacred spaces designed for exactly this: the woman who is ready to stop performing and start discovering who she is underneath all of it. Not the polished version. Not the broken version. The true version.
