RESOURCES:
Justin Ross began his career as a professional baseball player, having been drafted in June of 1998 by the Anaheim Angels. He was an award-winning college baseball player at The University of Tennessee, still in the Top 10 for many UT school records. During his time as a professional and college athlete, Justin became passionate about discovering and teaching the differences between healthy high-producing teams, versus teams that take on toxic cultures and do not produce results.
After Justin's athletic career ended, he became a baseball coach at Arizona State University, where he focused primarily on teaching hitters. ASU was ranked #1 in the Nation during Justin's tenure, and he had the opportunity to coach many players that went on to play in Major League Baseball.
Justin took his passion for coaching into the business world in March of 2004, by taking a position with Abbott Laboratories, at that time the 69th largest company in the world. During Justin's 8-year tenure at Abbott, he had roles in sales, sales management, training, marketing, operations, and analytics. Justin trained over 5,000 employees, launched multiple products, managed multiple mergers, and along with his team, oversaw multiple billion-dollar books of businesses.
Justin made the decision to leave his role at Abbott Laboratories to help start a Non-Profit Organization called Heartwork. He also simultaneously began YOUnify Consulting with the partnership of his wife Shannon to supply strategies learned in the Fortune 100 environment to small businesses. Justin served as the Chairman of Heartwork from January 2011 to January 2014. Heartwork has been responsible for completing over 1,000 student lead mission projects around the world, and Justin along with his wife Shannon still serve on the board of directors.
Throughout Justin's career, he has coached, managed, or trained over 10,000 people on topics such as leadership, culture development, psychological type, emotional intelligence, conflict management, communication skills, strategic decision making, and team building. His passion is in the development of people and the creation of high functioning teams.
