A five-step routine for our daily Examen to remember the five steps:
Request the Spirit to lead me through my review
Relish the moments that went well and all the
Repent of any mistakes or failures.
Resolve, in concrete ways, to live tomorrow well.
Have I let fear guide my actions?
Where have I experienced the freedom in Christ today?
Did I waste time when I could have been spending more time
Did I put God first today, make time for prayer, remember to
offer Him my joys and sufferings?
Did I make time to rest, pray, and spend time with my
God, where did I see you in my home? In my daily chores? In
God, where did I see you on my commute? In the day's comings
Where did I encounter you in my meals, shared or alone,
Where did I pass by too quickly?
Where did I miss your presence?
When did I fail to love others as you love me?
With regards to social media and the digital life:
How are you called to respond in productive ways to what you
Do you feel pressured to nonetheless? Feeling driven by the
flesh or led by the Spirit?
With your own media - In your own words and images, do you
share something good and true, or do you tear others down or point only to
Are you obsessed over clicks, likes and retweets?
Do you share only to boost your own ego or “Personal Brand” ?
How are you contributing to a culture that refuses to take a
“long, loving look at the real?” What feelings are you trying to stir in
