Jesus has the power to change you. The Lord is here and can alter the very fabric of your soul. He can make us more like himself. We can become more godly.
Further, there are specific principles in today’s Scripture passage about how Jesus does that and what our role is in that process.
Today, we turn our attention to his authority over religion.
• Psalm 96:5 states, “For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the LORD made the heavens.”
• The religions of the world serve “gods” of their own creation. In contrast, Jesus is real. And he is in charge.
Mark 2:13-3:6 reveals not only the fact that he is in authority, but why Jesus is better than other religions. 3 reasons to celebrate his authority.
Today, we turn our attention to Jesus' authority to forgive.
· Jesus is in charge. He is the judge of every person, deciding whether to pardon them.
· That’s why we go to him first for our forgiveness.
In this message you will learn 4 ways to go to him for forgiveness.
Amazingly, Jesus oversees the entire spiritual world. Four important facts about his authority:
- Jesus conquered Satan (v. 12-13).
- One day, he will destroy demons forever (v. 21-24).
- He has the power to deliver people from demons now (v. 25-28).
- Demons can only act in accordance with what he allows (v. 29-34).
The disciples let go of their nets. Let go of their father. And followed. Who is Jesus that these men would do such a thing? Jesus is the only leader worthy of total authority over your life. So, let go and follow.
At some point growing in faith and giving by faith come together. We give to obey God. We give to see God work in ways we cannot. We give so others might know Christ. We do not believe that we deserve it all. We believe God is worthy of it all.
