There is a war going on inside each of us. We battle against our selfish desires and worldly passions. James takes a deep look into how we should live to uproot self-centeredness.

James draws attention onto the words that we speak. Our tongues have the power to inflict good and evil on others. How are you using your tongue in your life?

Real faith will change the way that you live. Jesus died on the cross so that He could bring you to life and change who we are completely. A faith that is real should flow out of our hearts and into the actions, words and works that we do. Everything about us should reflect the cross. Is your faith alive or dead?

The book of Haggai is about God confronting misplaced priorities and ways. The people of Israel have returned to their home land and began well. They began building the house of the Lord, but then life became difficult and they stopped. They busied themselves with their own lives and told themselves that it wasn't the right time to build the temple. God calls them out. We too can easily misplacing our priorities. 

Christ died for all on the cross. All, not some, not the most good, not the poorest only but all people or all nations. We are to treat all people equally and give love to all. That is what Jesus did and does. James  urges us to show no partiality.
