Our world is full of questions and people looking for answers. Some questions are more important than others. This week we begin a new series focusing on the person, character and mission of Jesus the Christ. He asked his disciples a question that people have been trying to answer for 2,000 years, “Who do men say that I am?” We must answer this question. We cannot opt out of giving an answer. Today we will explore the possible answers to this all-important question.

This year as we wind down our election cycle our world is ablaze with political talk. How should a Christian respond? Should Christians even be involved? Why is political involvement necessary? James Madison said “If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary.” This week continued our series called of Kings and Crosses where have explored the interplay between God and government by answering the question, "How should Christians be involved in civil government?"

This week we wrap up our missions convention. Pastor Bob Roberts will share God's heart with us. We will receive our faith commitments at the end of service. Pastor Bob was a missionary to the Philippines for many years. He also teaches missions at Northpoint Bible College. Let us all dream together of what God could do through us as we yield ourselves to him with a global vision.

This weekend we continued our series on Money with a Mission. So far we've learned that our first priority must be serving God over money. Last week we explored God's sure fired money making idea--work. This week we look at God's plan for paying for his dreams--tithes and offerings. The tithe is a powerful discipline that opens the heavens over our lives and pushes back the power of darkness. The tithe is not an Old Testament law tradition, but rather a Biblical principle that makes a powerful declaration of whose we are while bringing the provision to prevail against the gates of hell.

This week we continue our series on Money and God. Today we will explore God’s wealth creating plan called work. Work does four great things for us. Christians should be the best workers. Any good relationship with money has work as a component. If we are going to be prosperous, work must be a part of that equation. If we are going to understand our mission and our place in god’s story, work will be a part of it. If a nation is to be prosperous, work and a noble work ethic must be a part of it. No matter the work you do, if it is not immoral, if it’s done unto God, it is honorable and meaningful. You are bringing order out of Chao, and beauty out of ugliness, clarity out of confusion. These are very Godly Traits.

Today we begin a new series called, “Money with a Mission.” There is a powerful relationship between your spiritual health and your attitude concerning money and wealth. Money is simply a medium of exchange, it is morally neutral. It is our heart that matters to God and how we use our money is a great indicator of our heart condition. How we use money and possessions is a decisive statement of our eternal value. What we do with our money loudly proclaims what kingdom we belong to and because God uses provision to fund his vision, money then becomes a front in the battle against light and darkness.

This week we welcomed Pastor Carey back from Sabbatical and he shared with us a message entitled "Things I learned on Sabbatical;" with insights and observations from his summer traveling, studying and relaxing. These observations will relate to all of us as we live our daily lives in this chaotic world.

The Holy Spirit has two main functions in a believers life: to make them more like Christ (Fruits of the Spirit) and to empower them to fulfill their mission (power of the Spirit.) The tendency for most people is to focus on one or the other. The reality is that it is not the fruits or the power; but the fruits and the empowerment that we should seek. The purpose of the empowerment of the Holy Spirit is to assist us in spreading the gospel, but if we don’t have the Fruits of the Spirit in our lives it nullifies our witness. This weekend, Pastor Nate shared how the Holy Spirit empowers us to carry on the work that Christ started in bringing God's kingdom to earth.
