Being a father isn't easy. There are many roles and responsibilities we have to master to fulfill our God given calling. Our first role is to be a son of God because everything we do should flow out of our relationship with Him. Then we need to learn to be leaders, lovers, protectors and providers for our families. This is not easy, especially in today's society where there are so few father's to show the next generation how to grow into a godly man and father. Together we are discovered practical steps on how to be a lover of God and our families.

There are two things you cannot do in Heaven -- sin and lead people to Jesus. God has left us here to do the latter, yet many Christians will never lead anyone to Christ. This week we explored the key aspects of sharing your faith, including our soul zone plan to help you pray for those who need God.

This weekend we continued our series on the Power of Family Vision. God has called us to live as ambassadors of hope. The central tenet of our family vision should answer the questions: How can we bring the most glory to God? What shall we do as a family to build God's kingdom? How can my household be a lighthouse of hope to my world? As you move forward with your family vision, you will begin to implement prayer, service and giving into the areas of need that God directs your family. We must guard against the powerful forces in our culture that want us to focus upon the temporary world around us instead of the eternal world that God has named you an ambassador.

The default setting on life is chaos and confusion. When left to itself, life will run you over a cliff. When living with other people as a child, parent or grandparent it helps to have some house rules to create an environment of peace so that everyone can grow to their potential. This week Kim and I gave some suggested house rules to make the soil of your home rich and toxin free.

Relationships are complicated. All marriages start out happy, it’s the living together afterward that is the difficult part. Marriage and family is like an engine, it has a lot of moving parts. Marriage aims to take two people from different backgrounds, philosophies of life, parentage, ideas of money management and work ethic (then add to that children, with their own unique personalities and challenges, their activities and their passions) with an expectation that they will all live happily ever after. A family has a lot of moving parts. If these moving parts are not ordered correctly it can be the cause of a lot of stress and strife. This weekend, in our Family Vision Series we shared the secret to intimacy in any relationship, with a specific emphasis on how to deal with conflict, so as to grow closer to the special people in your life called your family.

Only with clear vision and wisdom from the Lord will you be able to build your house upon a solid foundation and fill its rooms with great treasures. God created leaders and inspirers to complement each other in the journey to fulfill their call. When done well, the family harnesses a synergy that brings about tremendous fruitfulness.

When thinking about a Family Vision and our Missional call to follow Jesus, we must realize this embodies both Loving Him intimately, and revealing His Kingdom, His presence, and His love practically into the lives of those around us. We would be foolish not to consider one of the most tried and true methods found in the Scripture, and modeled by Jesus and His Disciples for fleshing out such a Missional Vision… The Power of Hospitality!
