When it comes to communicating your expectations to others, it's important to first understand your own inner script and how it may be influencing your expectations. Your inner script is the internal narrative you have about yourself and the world around you, and it can greatly impact your expectations of others.

There's one thing I've written down which I call it flowed inner script which is when I started seeing people with a preconceived thought, a preconceived notion and I get upset and my inner emotion begin to rise up, I had to come to a place to rescript that inner script. how did I do that?

The next 8 weeks I'm going to do something different, I'm going to help you in how you can rescript your inner script as its an important journey that we have to go through. Get along the journey as we learn more about our inner script.

Conscious Wisdom

1 Kings 2: 6 Deal with him according to your wisdom, but do not let his grey head go down to the grave in peace.

Knowledge is that we know what to do and how to do it. Wisdom knows how to apply that knowledge in a timely and efficacious manner. I have often seen young people trying to copy wisdom or imitate wisdom from their mentors. 

Let me add a significant statement. Insecure ones are the people who would try to copy or imitate wisdom to prove their worthiness. 

It might work out for some time, but in the longer run, it will fall apart. I believe that is why King David emphasised his statement here, “according to your wisdom”. 

The Lord is able and willing to give wisdom to anyone who seeks Him for it. He does not hold back. He gives it freely. That is what the Bible says. 

The bigger question is, are we receptive and willing to accept where He leads? 

My mentor Edmund Chan once said, “We must all press on with the conviction that God will never lead us where His grace cannot keep us.” 

One of the anchoring ways that His grace keeps us is by giving us wisdom every minute and every hour of our journey. Yes. It is real. It is true. 

Let me expand this and talk about seven ways we can gain wisdom in our daily walk.

1. We need to understand our strengths and weakness at face value (meaning, don't exaggerate them or undermine them. Just face value).

2. In this journey, we must learn to manage our expectations of others and others’ expectations of us. 

3. We should NOT allow our ego to get in the way of our walk.

4. We need to be broken yet bold in our everyday lives. 

5. We need to genuinely be interested in others around us and take time to listen, understand, know and learn. 

6. We need to process every incident along the way and process them honestly and engagingly. 

7. We need to be intentional with our time and activities in life.

“Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it.” — Albert Einstein.

Did you see what the great genius says? It is a lifelong attempt. Today everyone wants everything quick and fast. Short wisdom is dangerous and delayed understanding is useless. It is all about keeping in step day after, day after, day after day. It is the same push in the same direction over a long time, applying learnt lessons in a worthy manner that will give wisdom. 

It is not so much about what I can do. It is all about what I should do.

In this journey of new beginnings, we must ask the Lord to give us a discerning heart. 

A discerning heart listens to the Lord. - His leading

A discerning heart is a content heart with the Lord's approval. - His approval.

A discerning heart is clear and courageous. His guidance

A discerning heart is secure. - His security.

Discernment is God's call to intercession, never to faultfinding. Corrie Ten Boom

Corrie nailed it. It all boils down to intercession and spending time in His presence. We cannot expect perfect people to be around us. But we can always expect our perfect heavenly father to guide, lead and cover us. 

He is already in our tomorrow. 

1 kings 2: 3-4: Keep the charge of the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His ordinances, and His testimonies, according to what is written in the Law of Moses, that you may succeed in all that you do and wherever you turn, so that the Lord may carry out His promise which He spoke concerning me, saying, 'If your sons are careful of their way, to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, you shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.'

Observe the word that is used here. KEEP the charge of the Lord your God. 

The Hebrew word is Shamar. This means he needs to be Proactive/quick/offensive as well as defensive/ protect/ take immediate action/ safeguard.

The game's name on this journey is the need to be Intentional in processing our steps towards change for its desired outcome. What do I mean?

It comprises four components

1. We do or, let's say, we act out.

2. We then process what we did and how it turned out.

3. We then learn or re-learn or sometimes unlearn

4. Finally, we go out and live our life.

We need to intentionally act, process, learn and then do it again and process it again to learn and do it again. This will bring about careful change in our lives. This is a crucial cycle we must follow for this change to occur.

We have to be careful about the aim syndrome. What is that? 

We take an arrow, set it in the bow and then we aim and aim and aim and aim and aim and aim and aim, but we never shoot. Then what should we do? We should take an arrow, set it in the bow, aim and immediately shoot and then retake aim. Then at least, we would know how far we have missed the mark.

Any of us trying to make this careful change must live lives intentionally and never let go of the process. Again, it is not just about what we process or talk about. It is what we do with what we process.

We talked about careful change and how to bring about that change. Change cannot sustain if we do not anchor that change in the promises of the heavenly father. But notice what the wise king David says after charging his son to keep the charge of the Lord. He focuses on the promise of the Lord to David. The promise here that King David was reminding Solomon was that God would be faithful to all his descendants and the throne of David would not lack any man for the throne.

_God's promises are like the stars. The darker the night, the brighter they shine. _ Unknown.

There are three characteristics of a promise from God.When God gives us a promise, it is not for us to bring it to pass or make it happen. It is His heart to fulfil the promise with or without our involvement. - He fulfils.

When God gives a promise, we might forget it over some time, but our faithful heavenly father will and can never forget the promise. - He remembers.

When God gives us a promise, He shows us that the given promise is to sustain us during those difficult dark moments in our lives. - He sustains 

Ahh… that is why King David, at this crucial talk with his son, reminds him of the promise Yahweh had made for him.
