For our next episode I’d like to dive more into talking about how following the process feels in the body but for now, enjoy a rambling journal with me podcast episode!

Journal Magick: Chapter Six is now live

I am serializing my non-fiction book here on Substack and would love if you checked it out. The archive of all chapters is available here. This chapter includes information on prompt scrying, and I have a downloadable prompt e-book available.

This is a list of 15 journal prompts, some of which are merely reflective, some require action, and others invoke creative writing skills. All are meant to help you step into a different lens of seeing the world and your experience of it. It is a useful tool to used along with the exercise of prompt scrying in chapter six of my book Journal Magick on Substack. It can also simply be used to expand your experience within the pages of your journal. Happy imagining!

**A note here to say I have not mentioned the media logging experiment in this episode because it seems my scrolling habit is much worse than I initially realized. It’s taking a lot more self-awareness, and so I am continuing to work through this experiment and also allowing myself some grace as I adjust my habits.

This is a preview of the month ahead readings that are to be provided for paid subscribers of Paper Joys. It includes a reading, a piece of art to contemplate and some journal prompts.

Journal Prompts:

* Evaluate your environment. See what tools and resources are available. Make a list to keep on hand. Return to it as needed.

* Write about where you want to go in all different areas of life.

* What are your rituals to care for your capacity? How are you refueling yourself energetically, emotionally, physically?

* Compare what you want, what you need, and what you have.

* What can you set down? Who can you ask for help?

Just to start, in hindsight this episode sounds like I’m coming off very pro-social media/tech. That’s not what I’m trying to examine here. I am wanting to get curious about the human need to label something good or bad.

I also don’t discuss AI here because, as an artist and human on this earth, it’s something I am deeply troubled by. It’s not a topic I am well-acquainted with, however. This episode mainly speaks to my personal experience.

Now, for the experiment, we will be doing a media logging experiment beginning today August 21, 2026. Obviously you can begin yours anytime. I will share a public page on Notion with my media log, though it will probably be transcribed from an analog copy. This is just an experiment to see how what we consume feeds the compost pile of creative inspiration, and if it’s possible to mindfully engage with short-form content. Make some fun journal pages about it. Be creative. It doesn’t have to be a chore.

Paid Subscriptions are back on

There will be a continuation of the Crawling Veins series on ancestral connections. These essays, as they are to be more personal, will be for paid subscribers. I have not scheduled it out yet, but I will be beginning Q&A creative group coaching sessions in September. If you are a paid subscribers and have a question, please leave it in the comments or message me. This will be a paid subscriber podcast episode, also a recorded video. There may also be month ahead tarot art collective readings for paid members, but that would not begin until September.

Available on my Ko-Fi we have the Sticker of the Month Club for $3, the Mail Club for $11, and I have 5 spots available for the Tarot Art Reading Club at $22. These are personalized readings sent the last week of the month you sign up, and will be a month ahead reading. I have 5 spots available, and they are available at a discounted rate from the regular listing. They are great ways to connect with your creativity and tap into your subconscious to see where you’re at as one month comes to an end and we look ahead. Check out all the tiers here.

So far, my book proposal hasn’t received any feedback other than a couple of rejections. The feedback was positive, it seems as though those publishers weren’t the right fit. I have decided to continue writing the book, and I will begin to plan self-publishing when the time comes.

Paid Subscriptions are back on

I removed anyone who had previously paid for this newsletter and made them a free member as all memberships had expired. There is currently no paywalled content here. At the moment I am thinking of creating a Q&A perk for subscribers for some accessible group creative coaching. These would be paywalled podcast episodes, also recorded video.

Today I introduce the inspiration behind starting my new project around Liminality, weirdness, media, and all things in between via Strange Static. Please go follow me there, as to respect the space of your inbox, I did not import my current email list. Strange Static is a separate project and the energy is very different. I also share the story behind the name (it has to do with my first introduction to Freddy Krueger).

I also share a little bit about releasing shame about promoting our own work. I plan to delve into this more as I confront my own shame about sharing the work I make.

One tidbit I forgot to mention is I am in the process of setting up a space to make a video version of the podcast (other than the podcast logo). I did already obtain a new mic, let me know if the audio experience was better.

Send me your stories

My inbox is open ([email protected]) to your stories regarding strange experiences and encounters with the liminal. I am also open for questions about any of the topics I cover: spirituality, creativity, curiosity, paranormal, consciousness, the human experience, mental health. I imagine the shape of this podcast will continue to develop and take shape as more time elapses.

Open for Collaborations

I am putting this out into the universe that I would love to collaborate with other artists and/or writers, or any creators really. Send me a DM or an email. Let’s get creative and weird.
