We frequently hear of people such as police officers, firemen or soldiers who lose their lives in the line of duty. They have separated themselves and sacrificed all for service. This is what it means to be a living sacrifice: to love not your life unto death; to lay down your life for a friend; to give up your desires for a higher purpose; to exchange your will for His. This is the life Christ invites us to lead. This is the selflessness that fulfils our destiny. As the Apostle Paul once said: "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service." (Romans 12:1). This is what it takes to serve the Lord of hosts as a living sacrifice.
