What happens when we stop trusting God and start creating a god of our own liking?
In Exodus 32, Israel turns away from the God who rescued them and builds a golden calf from the very gifts He provided. Their story is heartbreaking—but it's also painfully familiar. We may not bow to a golden statue, but we can still take God's gifts, put them above God Himself, and build idols of our own.
In this message, we confront the idols competing for our worship, the danger of impatience with God's timing, the seriousness of sin, and the cost of following God wholeheartedly. But ultimately, Exodus 32 points us to Jesus—the greater Mediator who came down to us, stood between a holy God and sinful humanity, and gave Himself to make forgiveness and restoration possible.
What are you worshipping?
What has taken the place that belongs to God alone?
It's time to tear down the idols, turn back to Jesus, and remember that He is worth everything.
