LTD Podcast E62: Immigration is a Much Needed Blood Transfusion - An Interview with Rebecca McLaughlin by Pastor JD Greear (Part 1 of 4)

How can a Christian defend his faith when asked questions like these?

What about the history of racism?

What about how Christians treat LGBT people?

What about your Christian views on sexual ethics?”

Pastor JD Greear of Summit Church interviews Rebecca McLaughlin,  author of Confronting Christianity: 12 Hard Questions for the World's Largest Religion about some hard topics on Christianity in today's culture.

Non-christians have many misperceptions about Christians. Rebecca thinks that “if we can help them to look more closely, they'll find that things which they thought were reasons to not be followers of Jesus actually become reasons to be followers of Jesus.”

With regard to Christianity being a White Man’s religion, Rebecca says, “People often associate Christianity with white Westerners, but actually today, Christianity is not only one of the largest but also the most diverse belief system in the world, essentially even spread of people from Europe, North America, South America and Africa.”

• Misperceptions of non Christians to Christians

LTD Podcast E61: Former President George W Bush, We are all God's Children. Every Life is Precious

The 74 year old commander in chief turned artist, George W. Bush talks about immigration and his heart towards the immigrants. With his paintings, he hopes he can help set a tone that is more respectful about the immigrant which may lead to reform of the system. He says, “The problem with the immigration debate is that one can create a lot of fear. They're coming after you. But it's a nation that is willing to accept the refugee or the harmed, or the frightened to me is a great nation. And we are a great nation.” Years after his political career, he remains passionate about social issues and uses his influence and voice to affect change in the society. Something that we Christians should be being called  to be the light and salt in the world. “Mine is just a small voice, in what I hope is a chorus of people saying let's see if we can solve the problem.”

In this interview with Hoda Kotb of TODAY, former President George W. Bush talks about immigration. “The beauty of immigration for our country's future has been over clouded by harsh rhetoric and I wanted to tell the stories of courage, compassion, hard work, entrepreneurship, patriotism.” He mainly paints veterans and immigrants because he has a kinship with veterans and got great empathy with immigrants.  For a man like George W.
