"A Christian that looks like the world makes Jesus appear weak & unnecessary." - Pastor Eric Jones
An overview of 2 Timothy.
1. DON’T BE ASHAMED OF JESUS: A life lived for Jesus is a life lived sharing Jesus with others: unashamed!
2. LEADERSHIP IS IMPORTANT: Leaders are willing to handle uncomfortable situations and confront issues for the health of the church.
3. WEAK LEADERSHIP IS DANGEROUS: But from Pentecost on, the church has stepped away from that safety zone, and being indwelled with the Holy Spirit, believers have moved in the power of the Holy Spirit.
4. KIS – KEEP IT SCRIPTURE: The church isn’t charged with giving people tips and tricks for a good life (not a self-help, life-coach); rather, the church is charged with teaching Scripture .
This overview of 1 Timothy reveals that (1) Christ atonement is not limited but is for all, (2) the complementary role of men and women affords women much opportunity for ministry in the church, (3) God's standard for church leadership is high, and (4) Christianity is not socialism.
