This phase of our journey marks the final realization that what came before cannot hold. The illusion is broken, and we can never go back.

When we reach this phase, we must completely process the loss of comfort and illusion.

Make the choice to not stuff or numb your feelings. Give yourself permission to feel it all.

Welcome to episode 4 of Season 4 of The Women’s Leadership Podcast: The Heroine’s Journey - Descent.

Descent can be challenging.

It’s the stage of shedding. And it’s raw.  

Shedding is a deep part of the descent’s process of transformation. We let go of relationships, networks, patterns and ways of being that no longer serve.

One thing to know: as you confront both fear and shame, other doors will open. New relationships and opportunities will present themselves.

We’re building a new sense of self for moving forward, and it’s hard work.

If you can learn to simply be with the discomfort of the Descent, you’ll be ready to re-emerge as you step forward on The Heroine’s Journey.

Awakening can bring with it a sense of profound loss and grief. When our illusions have been shattered, we take time in the awakening to bring on the wisdom required to hold a new reality.

To do that - to rise to a new level of wisdom and understanding - we must recognize our need to equip ourselves for the path ahead.

So we call in new resources - the allies, tools, networks, and learning - that we need to move forward into the coming stages. 

Take time in the stage of Awakening to gather your tools and assets. You’ll need them for the next stages of The Heroine’s Journey.

Illusion. It fools us. It’s a tool of systems of oppression. And when we finally see through it, illusion sets us on the path of transformation and growth.
