We are so excited you have chosen to do a Bible study with us! We have a deep love for the word of God and a passion for helping others learn the powerful truths found in His word. We strive to honor Him in everything that we create. Our desire is to speak only the truth of God’s word, hence the name of our ministry, Not Our Words. We believe the Bible explains the Bible, so that is why you will see Scripture included in the homework that is not in Romans. It is exciting to see the Bible as one whole story, working together in perfect harmony.
This study of Romans is designed to be a “dig deeper” type of study. There are related Scriptures and extra details included. We hope you will use all the resources provided to get the complete picture of what Paul is saying in Romans. This study has been written with the hope that whether you are new to Christianity or you have studied the word of God many times, it will meet you there. Our desire is that you will come away from the study with a better understanding and a deeper knowledge of God’s word. We fully trust the Holy Spirit will give you wisdom as you seek the Lord through this incredible book.
This is an eleven-week study that includes a study book, a weekly teaching lesson and a weekly online discussion. Each lesson in the study book contains a short commentary that will give you some information about the section of Scripture you are getting ready to study. Each lesson also contains study questions divided by chapter. Before the questions, you will see a Journal Page. The idea of the Journal Page is to give you the opportunity to begin your Bible study each week by reading the Scripture and recording what the Lord reveals to you. On this page, there is a box to write observations. Ask yourself: what is the Lord showing me? What does this Scripture say about God? What new thing did I learn? There is also a box to write any questions you have. These may be general questions you have about the text or more specific questions. For example, what does Paul mean when he says, “‘The righteous will live by faith’”? This is also a great place to record questions to share during our weekly online discussions. The last box on the Journal Page is for application. Ask yourself: What take aways do I see in these verses? How do I need to respond to the Lord as a result of my reading? The Journal Page is an opportunity for you to work through God’s word with Him, letting the Holy Spirit guide and teach you.
Once you finish journaling, dig into the questions to study even further. Each week, we will send you a teaching video. After you have completed your journaling and study questions, this is a great way to finish up the lesson.
We hope you enjoy this study of Romans. We are excited to get started with you! Don’t forget to join us in the chat section for discussions.
