In Gen 48 we see Jacob on his deathbed making final preparations with his family. Jacob adopts Joseph's two sons as his own - adding them into the family inheritance. These sons of Jacob now total 14 in all and will become the future 12 tribes of Israel. However - as par the course - Jacob does not follow tradition - but reverses the birth order by blessing Ephraim over his older brother Manasseh.

In Genesis 46-47 we see Jacob and the rest of his family all relocate to Egypt with Joseph (70 members in all). In this episode we discuss why God relocated the family to Egypt and how this can be an encouragement to us today. When things are difficult - we should just "Keep Playing" just like Joseph did.

In Genesis 45 we see Joseph finally reveal himself to his brothers after 21 years. It is clear that he has completely forgiven them for their past actions against him. By examining how he treats them we can self-assess whether we have forgiven those who have wronged us as well.

In Genesis 43-44 we see the 2nd meeting between Joseph and his brothers. This time Joseph completes the test of his brothers character prior to revealing himself to them. Joseph serves as a typology of the future coming of Jesus in many ways...

In Genesis 42 we see the first reunion between Joseph and his brothers (yet under very different circumstances). Joseph designs a plan to test his brothers to see ion they have changed. Once again - Joseph serves as a typology of Jesus and a model we can follow in our own lives.

In Genesis 38-39 we compare the actions of 2 very different brothers. In Genesis 38 we see Judah and his actions which reveal his low moral character. However in Genesis 39 we see the actions of Joseph which reveal a high moral character. We explore what happened in these chapters and are encouraged to strive to be like Joseph.

We enter into the final section of our Genesis series by looking at the life of Joseph. In Gen 37 we see Jacob's other sons take revenge on their favored brother - toss him into an empty cistern - before feeling him into slavery. How do you imagine Joseph felt while sitting in that cistern? Perhaps you, in the past or are currently sitting in a cistern and wondering where God is? Have hope and trust that - as He didn't abandon Joseph - He will not abandon you!
