Adam Stofsky is the founder and executive director of the New Media Advocacy Project (N-Map). Adam discovered the power of new media advocacy when working in Nigeria on a massive forced eviction case, which had been stalled in court for fourteen years.
He produced a documentary, advised by local lawyers, which allowed the evictees to tell their story and advance their case.
Adam continued to develop his new media advocacy ideas at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights, where he used new media to secure positive results for Katrina victims, employment discrimination plaintiffs, and minority voters.
He is a graduate of Amherst College and Harvard Law School.

Fed up with that, he jumped at the chance of a year’s work experience in Africa. Came back and moved to London. After a number of years, he knew he had to face up to what interested me most – human beings, their experiences, issues and directions in life.
He embarked on Counselling and Career Guidance courses. Over the years Joe has worked with a few thousand teenagers and adults helping them discover their own identity, thus empowering them to choose fulfilling, purposeful, personally meaningful and successful paths’ in life.

After studying at Oxford, Robert worked in a number of London best and most colourfully named advertising agencies before leaving to travel the world.
He ended up in Spain, from where he never quite made it home. A serendipitous meeting (in Portland, Oregon) gave him a way to make work into play (and play into work). The result was On Your Feet, which uses ideas and methods derived from improv theatre to help people work together better.
Robert Poynton is an Associate Fellow of Oxford University’s Saïd Business School where he contributes, using improvisation, to a number of executive leadership programmes.

James was a promising marine at the age of 20, one year later he was sentenced to 15 years to life after a deadly confrontation with a drug dealer. Prison became survival and the first few years he was in isolation, he shared a recreation yard with death row inmates, including Stanley ‘Tookie’ Williams, founder of the notorious Crips gang in Los Angeles. When James was allowed to rejoin the prison’s general population in 1987, he took advantage of the opportunity to make more of his life.
Almost three years out of prison now, James smile tells the story. He completed his BS in psychology shortly after release, graduating summa cum laude. Now his days are filled with helping people from all walks of life as a drug and alcohol counsellor in Napa and Sonoma Counties, a career inspired by his mother, who passed away in 2012. He also serves as a lead facilitator for the Alternatives to Violence Project in Santa Rosa. In February James was honoured with the unsung hero award for compassion, presented to him by the Dalai Lama for his work founding a program in prison to tutor inmates.

In 1981, long before the world got hooked on green juices and chia seeds, Romy opened a small natural health and beauty shop in London’s Covent Garden. And Neal’s Yard Remedies was born. Hall Newbegin, a hiker, mushroom-forager, wildflower enthusiast and all around wilderness freak, founded the wilderness fragrance company Juniper Ridge in December of 1998.
Hall began bottling the various scents of the West by harvesting plants while on hikes and then distilling them in his kitchen to create natural fragrances that he would sell at local farmer’s markets in Berkeley and San Francisco. Now with a total of 20 on board with him at Juniper Ridge, the company has grown but still holds onto its original mission: to bring the quiet and potentially transformative experience of being deep in the mountains into people’s homes and daily lives.
