Text:            Matthew 4:1-11

Title:            The Road to Golgotha: “God’s Terms”

Theme:         In the wilderness Jesus refused Satan's tempting offers. Rather than be the Son of God on our terms, Jesus was determined to serve God on God's terms. In our worship and service of God, we are constantly tempted to serve our needs and desires rather than to serve God. Yet in God's grace, God gives us what we need to resist such temptation and to live by the word for the Lord.

Theme:            Faithfulness is not simply “avoiding an affair’ but true faithfulness is ministering to your mate, blessing them and demonstrating a self-giving love that mirrors the love of Christ. We do that in profound ways by meeting each other’s needs for romance, affection, and sexual intimacy.

Theme:            This message will focus on the following five habits of unhealthy marriages: Disrespect, Criticism, Contempt and Abuse, Lying and Dishonesty, Conflicts over Finances, Alcohol and Drugs, and Infidelity. We will also focus on a very critical habit of all healthy marriages; Forgiveness, and the ability to say and mean the words, “I am sorry” and “I forgive you”.

Theme:            Marriage, in the Bible, is a sacred calling and like any sacred calling is seldom easy but takes work.  We often talk of falling in and out of love when the truth is that we choose to love. John Wesley told his preachers to “preach faith until you have it” similarly, in marriage we are called to “do” love until we feel it.
