Michael Griffin pleaded guilty at Dundalk Circuit Court recently to 8 counts of indecent assault on twins Mary and Regina Cooney. The abuse which occurred between 1974 and 1982, began when the girls were aged 4 and continued until they were 12. The twins waiving their right to anonymity ensured Griffin was named. He was convicted, remanded in custody and is awaiting sentencing in January. Shortly after the trial Gerry Kelly met Mary and Regina who told him their harrowing story.

Superintendent Andrew Watters spoke about the need for all of us to play our part in road safety. Eddie Travers from Ardcath and Clonalvey's Dervila Bowler, who own Fraunces Tavern, the oldest bar in New York City, had a lovely chat with Gerry. Gerry also paid a visit to Sandpit National School where first-time author Emer Murray read her new book to a captive audience.
