The sermon series on the first pages of Genesis continues. We look at the beginning of a 'second creation account' and take note of the emphasis on the Garden of Eden as sacred space and the man's role as priest. What does it look like for us to expand Eden and cultivate culture, turning the Garden into a Garden-City?

It is another bonus episode for our series "In the Beginning." Carson, Rich, and Taylor discuss the theme of the image of God throughout scripture and note how it is a critical theme for understanding our salvation and God's intention for creation.

Continuing the "In the Beginning" series, the creation account culminates in God's rest on the seventh day. We look at why the seventh day is emphasized as the final act of creation, what the Sabbath day is all about, and how we can practice the Sabbath in our lives today.

In this second session, we look at how we are unintentionally shaped by the stories we believe and how we need to be taught the true story of reality - the gospel - if we are to intentionally change by the power of the Holy Spirit.

In this first session, we look at our need for change and why it is important that to recognize that we are completely lost and broken apart from Jesus.  

The days of creation demonstrate that God has ordered his world to function under his Lordship. One important characteristic of this kingdom is that human beings were created to function as God's image-bearers, which is an important concept to understanding the person and work of Jesus. 

Taylor and Cameron have a short discussion on how the Biblical writers link the God of Salvation as the God of Creation. The Jewish sages of the midrash picked up on this biblical link in the "Exodus Rabbah," and it resonates with one of the final points of the previous sermon "Order from Chaos" - that the God that saved you is the God that made you.
