Lobbing Scorchers

It’s unfortunately an emphatic L pod as the Seattle Sounders went down to sunny San Diego, CA and got routed 3-0 by San Diego FC. We break it all down in our game review, hit our Agena Check, then mercifully move onto some league-wide coverage where we give our winners and losers from Matchday 7 in MLS.

Later on we discuss the pipe dream of Kevin De Bruyne one day coming to Seattle (before we saw the news that Inter Miami actually have his discovery rights).

The vibes got a boost in Matchday 6 as the Seattle Sounders pulled out a 1-1 draw at San Jose on the strength of a clutch equalizer from Albert Rusnak. With another road matchup against a good-looking San Diego FC side looming, we discuss Seattle’s attacking performance in Saturday’s match and what it means for their prospects going forward.  Later on, we hit our Agenda Check, which featured a spirited discussion about the performance and role of Danny Musovski.

The injury-ravaged Seattle Sounders couldn’t quite get on track in Matchday 5 as they played a snoozer in Saturday’s scoreless draw vs. Nico Lodeiro and the Houston Dynamo. Was this a case of falling back into the cycle of early-season 2024? We discuss that in our game review, then hit our Agenda Check, which included some less than positive coverage of the US men’s national Fraud Squad.

Later on, we discuss the reports linking the Sounders to English winger Ryan Kent (not of Ted Lasso fame) and hit winners and losers from around MLS

With their disappointing CCC exit in the rearview mirror, it was another tough one for the Seattle Sounders as they took a frustrating 1-0 defeat at St. Louis CITY SC. With the Nico Lodeiro Revenge Game at Lumen Field this weekend next on deck, what will it take for the squad to get on track? And should we be concerned about Jesus Ferreira after the offseason trade arrival showed some visible signs of frustration in this match?

Later on, we hit our Agenda Check and discuss some of the other results from around the league in MLS Matchday 4.

We have a seldom-seen combined Dub and L Pod as we drop our belated game review of Seattle’s 5-2 Matchday 3 demolition of LAFC, then dive into the Rave Green’s unceremonious exit in the Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 16 at Cruz Azul. Can we still take encouragement from that dominant performance over the Black & Gold, or does the injury-riddled CCC disaster have us crashing out?

We also hit our Agenda Checks from both games, talk Winners and Losers from around MLS in Matchday 3, and have our Blazing Hot Coach Press Conference of the Week sponsored by Haxan Ferments.

It’s our first L Pod of the season as the Seattle Sounders were dealt a 2-0 defeat by Western Conference nemesis Real Salt Lake. Can we chalk this up to a logjammed schedule and squad rotation or is this cause for greater concern? We debate that in our game review, then wade into the Nouhou Discourse as part of our Agenda Check after the polarizing defender scored one of the worst own goals of all time. Later on, we discuss some of the other results from Matchday 2 in MLS, including a troublingly dominant performance from Inter Miami even without the services of Lionel Messi.

After an ideal start to Concacaf Champions Cup, the Seattle Sounders couldn’t quite turn a couple Jordan Morris goals into a win in their season-opening 2-2 draw vs. Charlotte FC. Should you be more encouraged by another solid attacking effort, or more tilted about that highly unfortunate own goal? We debate that as part of our game review, hit our Agenda Check, and check the pulse of the streets.

Later on, we dig into a fun Matchday 1 slate in MLS that gave us a couple of surprise results, as well as a highly comedic showing from the Portland Timbers that delivered us our first Blazing Hot Coach Press Conference of the Week of 2025 (sponsored by Haxan Ferments).

Concacaf Champions Cup is off and running and the Seattle Sounders are off to a roaring start after Wednesday’s 3-1 Leg 1 triumph in Guatemala. Can anyone stop the FC Dallas boys? Did we just witness Pedro de la Vega’s breakout? We discuss that and more in our very first Dub Pod of 2025.  Later on, we hit an Agenda Check that might ruffle some feathers among the anti-Craig Waibel community and hit a couple of other Sounders-related headlines, including rumors linking Obed Vargas to the Eredivisie.
