  • Local Live - Lost Tribes Of The Moon
LOST TRIBES OF THE MOON USES “METAL” AS ITS MAIN VEHICLE OF SOUND BUT ALSO CITES INFLUENCES RANGING FROM 70’S HARD ROCK, PROG ROCK, FOLK AND AMBIENT/EXPERIMENTAL, FOCUSING ON DYNAMICS TO DELIVER A SOUND THAT DOESN’T SIT NEATLY INTO ANY SINGLE DESCRIPTION OR GENRE. LOST TRIBES OF THE MOON TAKES THEIR NAME FROM A REFERENCE TO CLIVE BARKER’S NIGHTBREED FILM AND GRAPHIC NOVEL AND USES THIS DEBATE-ABLY FICTIONAL UNIVERSE TO INFLUENCE THEIR OVERALL VIBE, AS WELL AS LYRICISM STEEPED IN STORIES OF MYTHICAL FIGURES AND OLD TALES.
SINCE 2017, LOST TRIBES OF THE MOON HAS SHARED THE STAGE WITH TROUBLE, TODAY IS THE DAY, BLACK TUSK, IMMORTAL BIRD, DOOMSTRESS, DREADNOUGHT, AILS, OWL AND SAVAGE MASTER. THE RELEASE OF THEIR DEBUT, SELF-TITLED ALBUM SEES THEM VENTURING OUT BEYOND THEIR HOMETOWN AND THE MIDWEST TO SHARE THEIR MUSIC, WHILE CONTINUOUSLY WRITING NEW MATERIAL THAT WILL HELP THEM EVOLVE TO THE NEXT PHASE OF THEIR EXISTENCE.

  • Local Live - OQ
OQ IS LIAM O’BRIEN AND COLE QUAMME IN COLLABORATION WITH AN ARRAY OF MILWAUKEE-BASED CONTRIBUTORS. QUAMME STARTED MAKING BEATS INFLUENCED BY THE DEFINITIVE SOUND OF THE LATE JANKA NABAY AND DECIDED TO REACH OUT TO LOCAL FOLK AND BLUEGRASS MUSICIANS TO SEE WHAT THEY COULD DO WITH THEM. QUAMME EVENTUALLY RECRUITED O’BRIEN, WHO DEVELOPED THE INTERLOCKING RHYTHMS INTO FULL-FLEDGED SONGS BASED ON CELTIC MELODIES.
BY THE TIME THEY’D GOTTEN AROUND TO PRODUCING THEIR FIRST EP, PARADICE 1, THE PROJECT HAD TAKEN ON SURPRISING NEW FORMS. PARADICE 1 EXEMPLIFIES THIS EVOLUTION – MELODIC RUMINATIONS ON HUMANITY DANCE OVER SUSTAINED GROOVES AND COMPLEX POLYRHYTHMS. IT’S A SOUND THAT HEARKENS A DISTANT PAST AND IN THE SAME STROKE, HERALDS IN THE COMING OF A NOT-SO-DISTANT, BUT HOPEFULLY BRIGHTER, FUTURE.
TUNE INTO WMSE’S LOCAL/LIVE TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 26TH AS WE WELCOME OQ FOR THEIR DEBUT RADIO PERFORMANCE ON THE MIGHTY 91. WMSE.ORG TO STREAM LIVE OR IN THE ARCHIVES OR SIMPLY TUNE YOUR RADIO TO 91.7 FM AT THE 6 O’CLOCK HOUR.

  • Local Live - Neocaveman
Neocaveman got their start in 2015 and their music has evolved into the indie progressive rock sound that they have become known for around the Midwest, constructed with complicated arrangements and rich harmonies that blend a capella gospel sounds with fingerstyle psychedelia.
The project is a collaboration of Peter Hair and Paul Tyree of Faux Fiction, Samuel Balistreri of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee fingerstyle guitar program, Simon Beno of American Monroe, and Jeremy Moroder of Epimotive. Ertrok Radio Hour says “[Neocaveman] blend math, pop and indie rock seamlessly into pleasing often dream-like tracks. Neocaveman is nothing short of astounding.”

  • Local Live - Trapper Schoepp
WMSE is excited to be back once again at Club Garibaldi for our monthly Local/Live segments! Trapper Schoepp’s newest, ‘Primetime Illusion’ – produced by Pat Sansone (Wilco, Robyn Hitchcock) – will see its worldwide release on Xtra Mile Recordings on January 25th. The album also features a co-write with Bob Dylan called, “On, Wisconsin.”
