The Fresh Start Lock-In was supposed to bring the students of Bridgewater closer together. Jackie didn't think it would work, but she didn't think she'd have to fight for her life, either. A group of outsider kids who like to play werewolf might not be playing anymore. Will Jackie and her brother escape Bridgewater High before morning? Or will a pack of crazed students take them down?
Members Reviews:
This is a scary tale of Jackie's unfortunate encounter with an emo-werewolf pack that is a bit more real than she had imagined!
Jackie couldn't help but feel a bit envious and somewhat irritated when Francis Masterson's became "semi-famous" after his YouTube video went viral. It all began when Callie Murdock was talking to a reporter about the kids who'd "been stealing her chickens." The weird thing was that some of them weren't even taken home to be Kentucky fried, they were just plain old dead. After Callie exclaimed, "I know who it is too. Those ... wolf kids!," Francis made his famous smart aleck remark that made YouTube history. It was the in thing for some Bridgewater High kids to be emo-werewolves, but seriously, were they all emo or were some of them real? Their self-expression seemed to be getting out of hand.
Principal Weston had no issue with anyone wearing their werewolf getup to school so long as they did their work. Things weren't as innocent as they appeared when the first "Big Incident" happened. The cops were there with their yellow caution tape encircling an emo-wolf car. Everyone knew that someone on the lacrosse team trashed it and there would be trouble. Connor Tailors was not kidding when he told Gwen, "They'll regret this. We'll make them." The wolf kids would soon retaliate with a second "Big Incident," an incident that wasn't an accident and was totally sickening.
Jackie and her friend Mira were on board when a fight broke out in the cafeteria over the latest incident. Principal Weston was having none of it and took Rosa's De La Torre's suggestion that Bridgewater High have a lock-in. Jackie and Mira agreed that Jackie was insane and no doubt "Rosa's Fresh Start Lock-in" would be a bust. It was mandatory and everyone had to be there with few exceptions. The horror of the night began slowly, but soon escalated. Blake Golding was assaulted and weird things started to happen. "Click, click." The lights went out and there was no one there to unlock the doors. Jackie found her brother Pete and asked, "Are we going to be Bridgewater High's two remaining students tomorrow morning?" Would they be? How were they going to escape the black mass lurching through the hallways?
This is a scary tale of Jackie's unfortunate encounter with an emo-werewolf pack that is a bit more real than she had imagined. Unlike the much more involvedTwilight Saga Collectionfor young vampire fans, this is a series geared more toward the reluctant reader or those who want a quick read. It's a fast-paced foray into the world of Bridgewater High, a school that always seems to have something weird going on. The unexpected twist at the end was surprising and left room for a possible sequel to this quirky read.
