The Jacksonville Jaguars head to New Orleans for their preseason opener against the Saints, and with the starters sitting, Saturday is a HUGE opportunity for the defensive depth chart.
On this Locked On Jaguars Hit, Kyle Nash breaks down what he NEEDS to see from Anthony Campanile's defense in NOLA:
🔥 PASS RUSH — Who creates pressure when Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker aren't out there?
💪 DEFENSIVE TACKLES — Can the interior generate penetration and prove Jacksonville's defensive line is deeper than the starters?
👀 LINEBACKERS — The battle involving Ventrell Miller and Branson Combs has been one of the stories of camp. Who takes advantage of the live reps?
🔒 SECONDARY — Jacksonville has plenty of bodies competing at corner and safety. Who covers, tackles and — most importantly — makes plays on the football?
🏃 RUN DEFENSE — No cheap yards. Set the edge, fill the gaps and make New Orleans earn everything.
🚨 TACKLING & DISCIPLINE — It's preseason, but missed tackles, busted assignments and unnecessary penalties can't become habits.
The starters don't need to prove anything Saturday.
The guys BEHIND THEM do.
Who proves they deserve a spot on this Jaguars defense?

The Jacksonville Jaguars head to New Orleans for preseason action against the Saints, and this one isn't about the scoreboard — it's about finding out who deserves a role when the games count.
On this Locked On Jaguars Hit, Kyle Nash breaks down what he NEEDS to see from the Jags offense in NOLA:
🏈 Offensive Line: Can the depth protect the quarterback and create movement in the running game?
🔥 Running Backs: Who separates themselves in a crowded backfield?
🎯 Quarterbacks: Can the backups operate Liam Coen's offense efficiently and keep drives alive?
👀 Wide Receivers: Who makes the most of their targets and forces the coaches to notice?
💪 Tight Ends: Jacksonville has serious competition behind Brenton Strange. What do Nate Boerkircher and the rest of this deep TE room show as receivers AND blockers when they get extended preseason snaps? Boerkircher is currently listed No. 2 behind Strange on the Jaguars' depth chart.
🚨 Execution: No sloppy penalties. No turnovers. No busted assignments.
Forget the final score. Show me depth. Show me execution. Show me which Jaguars are ready to earn jobs.

The Jacksonville Jaguars finished 2025 with only 32 sacks.
That number NEEDS to change in 2026 — and there are reasons to believe it will.
Josh Hines-Allen led Jacksonville with 8 sacks last season, while Travon Walker finished with 3.5. If those two can push toward double digits AND the Jaguars generate more production from their interior defensive line and rotational pass rushers, Jacksonville has a realistic path toward 40+ sacks.
The key isn't asking one player to save the pass rush.
It's creating pressure from EVERYWHERE.
On Locked On Jaguars Hit, we break down why the Jaguars should generate more sacks in 2026, what Hines-Allen and Walker need to produce, and why improved interior pressure could change the entire Jacksonville defense.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are headed to New Orleans for a joint practice with the Saints — and THIS could be the most important evaluation of Jaguars training camp so far.
With most Jacksonville starters expected to sit during the preseason game, the joint practice becomes our opportunity to see Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars' first units tested against somebody other than their own teammates.
What am I looking for?
🐆 Can Trevor Lawrence and the offense execute against an unfamiliar defense?
💪 Does the Jaguars offensive line hold up when the opponent doesn't already know its tendencies?
💥 Can Josh Hines-Allen, Travon Walker and the Jacksonville pass rush create consistent pressure?
👀 How do Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington and Travis Hunter look against the Saints secondary?
🔥 And when adversity hits, how does Liam Coen's team RESPOND?
Here’s what I expect to see when the Jaguars get their first major outside test of 2026 training camp.

What could a Parker Washington contract extension with the Jacksonville Jaguars look like?
Parker Washington has emerged as one of Trevor Lawrence's most important weapons, and his breakout has created a major question for the Jaguars: How much will it cost Jacksonville to keep him?
We project Parker Washington's next contract, including potential years, total value, average annual salary and guaranteed money. Could the Jaguars lock Washington up before he reaches free agency — and where does his value fit in the rapidly rising NFL wide receiver market?

What does Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence REALLY need to do to win NFL MVP in 2026? After throwing for 4,007 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2025, Lawrence already proved he can produce. But winning MVP requires another level — and, perhaps more importantly, numbers the national media simply cannot ignore.
On this Locked On Jaguars Hit, Kyle Nash breaks down Trevor Lawrence’s MVP formula:
🏈 4,500–4,700 passing yards
🔥 38–42 passing touchdowns
🚫 8 or fewer interceptions
🎯 66%+ completions 📈
105+ passer rating 🏆
12+ Jaguars wins The question isn't whether Trevor Lawrence can be good. Can he be so dominant that MVP voters have NO CHOICE but to recognize him?

Moving Anton Harrison to left tackle could unlock the former first-round pick — but it also creates another major question for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Who takes over at RIGHT tackle? If Harrison proves he belongs protecting Trevor Lawrence’s blindside, the Jaguars could have an important piece of their offensive line figured out. But Jacksonville still has to determine who starts opposite him and whether that answer is already on the roster.
On this Locked On Jaguars Hit, Kyle Nash breaks down:
🐆 Why left tackle could be the best fit for Anton Harrison
🐆 Who could emerge at right tackle
🐆 How one position switch could reshape Jacksonville’s entire offensive line
🐆 What the moves mean for Trevor Lawrence

Travis Hunter is poised to make Jacksonville Jaguars history in 2026, chasing the franchise’s first-ever NFL superlative with a unique two-way skill set that could redefine the team's impact on both sides of the ball. After a rookie season cut short by injury against the Los Angeles Rams, Hunter’s return draws comparisons to NFL legends like Troy Brown, raising the question: can he thrive as a playmaker at both receiver and defensive back?
If he stays healthy, his high-impact contributions could make him a prime candidate for NFL Comeback Player of the Year, especially with the media’s spotlight and the precedent of awards going to players with fewer games. Will his dual-threat presence give the Jaguars the recognition they've waited for?
