The Philadelphia Phillies even their WILD CARD series up at ONE all with 4-3 WIN over the Atlanta Braves in 10 innings!

Trea Turner led off the game for the Phillies and smacked a double into right field, then scored on a Bryce Harper RBI single to left. Then with one out, Alec Bohm drove a single into left, putting Harper on third. Bryson Stott then hit a grounder of Braves’ starter Tyler Mahle, keeping the ball in the infield. Despite that, Harper kept breaking for home and was eventually thrown out in a rundown.

The Braves evened up the score in the bottom of the 1st inning. Ronald Acuna Jr. drew a leadoff walk, stole second, then third and scored on Matt Olson’s RBI single.

Atlanta then took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the 7th thanks in part to another lead off walk. This time it was Cristopher Sanchez walking Sean Murphy. Then Drake Baldwin lined a ball to Bryce Harper in right field that Harper misplayed, having it bounce off his glove allowing Murphy to score. Matt Olson followed with an RBI sac fly to center.

The Phillies responded immediately in the top of the 8th as Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper went back-to-back with homers off of Dylan Lee to even the score at three.  

Alec Bohm made the difference in the ball game with a solo homer to right for a 4-3 Phillies Lead.

Andrew Painter tossed three-scoreless innings of baseball and picked up the win in his first postseason appearance.

Austin Riley took Jhoan Duran DEEP for a GAME-WINNING three-run home run, handing the Philadelphia Phillies a 5-3 loss in game one of their wild card series against the Atlanta Braves.

Alec Bohm opened the scoring with a two-out double to center field that scored Kyle Schwarber from first base. Mike Yastrzemski tied things up at one in the bottom of the 2nd inning with an RBI single to center.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the 6th inning when Michael Harris hit a one-out single off Alex MacFarlane and Ozzie Albies launched a long fly ball to center field. Derek Hill leaped at the wall for the ball, but it bounced off his wrist allowing Albies to record an RBI triple that scored Michael Harris from first.

The Phillies regained the lead in the 7th when JT Realmuto came up in the clutch with a two-run triple to right field that Ronald Acuna JR had TONS OF TROUBLE trying to pick up. Bryan De La Cruz and Bryson Stott scored on Realmuto’s triple to give the Phillies a 3-2 lead.  

Jesus Luzardo started for the Phillies and threw five innings of three-hit one-run baseball while striking out six and throwing 77 pitches.

Cris Sale gave the Braves the longest postseason start of his career, tossing 6.1ip while being charged for three runs.

Duran came on in relief in the 7th and recorded a 1-2-3 inning. In the 8th, he got two quick outs, then allowed a base hit to Michael Harris II and then hit Ozzie Albies. Riley then stepped up to play the hero.

The Philadelphia Phillies clinch a wildcard berth with 7-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays, thanks to Zack Wheeler and the bats FINALLY waking up.

Wheeler started for the Phillies on four days rest and gave them six innings of one run baseball.

The Phillies offense would provide more than enough runs, for a change, as Bryson Stowe went three for three out of the cleanup spot Bryce Harper and Ed Mundo Sosa provided home runs while Kyle Schwarber came up with a clutch to run double in the second and JT Realmuto, broken O. for 34 slump with an RBI double in the wind.

The Philadelphia Phillies get EMBARRASSED by the Tampa Bay Rays, 12-1

Aaron Nola tried his hand at heroics by starting for the Phillies despite only being on two days rest. The gamble did NOT pay off. Nola allowed three runs on four hits including a two-run homer by Junior Caminero.

Not only did Nola not come through, it also failed to inspire the offense. The Phillies took their scoreless streak into the 7th inning when Bryson Stott hit a one-out double, then scored on an error by second baseman Richie Palacios off the bat of Justin Crawford.

The Phillies pitching after Nola didn’t help either. Jose Alvarado was charged for three runs over one-third of an inning while Jose Urquidy tossed 2.2ip allowing three runs. Max Lazar was taken for two runs in the 9th.

The Philadelphia Phillies FAIL to back a SOLID night from Cristopher Sanchez as they fall to the Tampa Bay Rays, 2-0.

The Rays opened the scoring with a little two-out lightning in the 1st inning. Cristopher Sanchez recorded two quick outs then surrendered three straight singles, with the third being an RBI single by Jonny DeLuca to right field.

Then in the 2nd, Nick Fortez took Sanchez deep for a solo homer and a 2-0 Rays lead.

Sanchez went on to shut down Tampa Bay’s bats after that. In total he went seven innings allowing two runs on the night on five hits and a walk while striking out 10 and throwing 100 pitches. Sanchez struck out the last six batters he faced.

The Phillies offense offered no support, mustering just four hits on the night as they have now scored just TWO runs over their last 27 innings.
