The New Orleans Saints are in a tricky situation with Derek Carr, but if he really does want to force his way out of New Orleans, the Saints should oblige his request. The messiness of the situation doesn't look like it's going to get any better any time soon. The Saints should just cut bait on Carr and give Kellen Moore the chance to handpick his next quarterback.

While Shedeur Sanders looks to be out of the running at pick No. 9 in the NFL Draft, quarterbacks like Jalen Milroe, Jaxson Dart, Tyler Shough and Kyle McCord are still possibilities. The New Orleans Saints could be heading in to the 2025 season without Derek Carr, and it may have been by his own doing. The Saints and Carr look to heading towards a separation, one way or another. Either Carr's season is on the brink of unavailability because of his shoulder injury or he's on his way out due to forcing his way out. Either way, the end of this era looks like it could get messy.

If the Saints do look to trade him away, it'll be after June 1. Two teams currently make sense, pending on their draft hauls. The Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers. The only way the Steelers work though, is if the Saints were to be team that lands Aaron Rodgers. They have the free agency to do it, but do they have the personalities to manage it? We don't think so.

The New Orleans Saints should absolutely be interested in trying to land Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey via trade. The biggest question markw ill simply be the asking price. However, if they don't have to surrender premium NFL Draft capital, the move might be worth it. Breaking down the financial implications of such a move and what it would mean for Alontae Taylor and the Saints' defense led by Brandon Staley.

While the Saints are set to view a private workout for Georgia's Mykel Williams, an investment in a developmental edge rusher isn't needed at No.9 overall for a team that's not in position to await growth. Instead, there are more ready-made prospects that would still be available later in the draft.

The New Orleans Saints may not have Derek Carr for the 2025 NFL regular season, but that might not send them sprinting to the podium for Shedeur Sanders at No. 9 overall. Instead, they could look to go into the next season with Spencer Rattler and building around him and the Saints offense instead.

After much controversy with Tetairoa McMillan's three-year old comments about film study habits, NFL teams don't sound like they have fallen off of the bandwagon when it coems to the Arizona prospect. Beyond building the offense, bolstering a defense that can get the ball back to whomever is under center will be just as important.

The New Orleans Saints have possibly lost Derek Carr for the season, but it doesn't mean that they need to reach for a quarterback in the NFL Draft. If Shedeur Sanders, Jaxson Dart or another quarterback in this year's draft are prospects the team believes in, then they should take one of them where it makes sense. But they shouldn't panic their way into selecting a passer they don't feel could be their starter of the future.

Above all, New Orelans must not waste the opportunity they have to start building toward their future. If no draftable passer makes sense, then rolling with Spencer Rattler or Jake Haener would make more sense than trying to acquire an end-of-career veteran starter.
