Locked On Saints - Daily Podcast On The New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints will carry eight total selections into the 2021 NFL Draft this year, mock draft Monday takes a look at where those picks are, what they could do in the first round at wide receiver, and how they can fill a ton of holes in the draft if necessary.

Sean Payton would love a new playmaker at wideout, and the Draft Network makes sure he gets one of the most versatile pieces in the NFL Draft this season.

Then, we dive into a seven-round NFL mock draft for the Saints as they load up at many positions of need, filling out today's roster. There may still be a lot of talent available still in free agency, but let's see how the draft can fill some needs if absolutely necessary.

The New Orleans Saints did what many said was impossible. They got under the gap despite a nine-figure overage without losing a single superstar. Marshon Lattimore, Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara, Ryan Ramczyk, Terron Armstead, and more are all still on the roster. They even franchise tagged Marcus Williams and signed Jameis Winston in the meanwhile.

Five mock drafts and five prospects, which would be the best fit if the Saints were to draft today? Why the 6'1" speedy man corner feels like the perfect choice.

Speaking of corner, with the Saints connected as possible suitor for veteran Richard Sherman, we dissect how he could fit in with the New Orleans defense despite his zone coverage prowess. Comparing he and the place he'd take, Janoris Jenkins and why the Saints are likely make more than just one move at the position.

A one-year incentive-laden deal seems to suggest that Jameis Winston will get to challenge Taysom Hill for the role os starting quarterback for the New Orleans Saints while simultaneously exercising caution after Drew Brees's retirement. What the contract tells us about expectations and projections as the Saints move ahead through the offseason.

After re-signing James Hurst, the Saints will look to focus on keeping in-house free agents. Which moves across the NFL could effect that? Trey Hendrickson gets his bag, wide receivers are not so far, and the safety market proves Saints were right to franchise tag Marcus Williams.

Remembering Drew Brees fondly is no chore and Locked On Saints listeners prove it. From being late to his first game in the Dome to all-time record setting performances, fans and listeners share their favorite Drew Brees moments as we detour Free Agency for a walk down memory lane.

Now that Drew Brees has retired, the New Orleans Saints must look ahead to what's next. Jameis Winston (possibly) and Taysom Hill await their chance at the throne as the Saints still provide a plethora of skill position talent for whomever lines up under center.

How Brees and his teammates, cohorts, friends and family said good bye. Memories of the Hall of Fame QB litter the social media landscape as loving notes are shared from all over the sports world.

Some of the Brees attention was overshadowed by an accompanying report of a 4 year, $140M contract for Taysom Hill. The contract that wasn't. What the deal actually means and why it's all essentially Monopoly money. Unless of course, Taysom earns it.

Is Jameis Winston the next QB in New Orleans? Are he and Taysom Hill really going to battle it out? What about Russell Wilson? There are so many paths the Saints can take, but only one seems to be on their minds right now.

The New Orleans Saints released cornerback Janoris Jenkins. An in-depth look at the salary cap implications, money saved, and what the move projects regarding the position group. Finding a running mate for Marshon Lattimore all of a sudden becomes a big priority.

What could the Saints do with $10M? Add a WR, LB, and edge rusher to reload at key positions of course! Here's how they do it.

More Facebook questions on: how much it'd cost to maintain Jameis Winston, how Kris Richard factors into free agent recruitment in the secondary, whether or not the Kansas City Chiefs should be calling the Saints for tackles and a special guest appearance.

After the New Orleans Saints made the tough, but expected, cuts of Kwon Alexander and Emmanuel Sanders, their cap situation drastically improved as they also learned the NFL Salary Cap would be $182.5M in 2021. How much money the Saints freed up, and why Kwon's story in the Big Easy might not be done.

New Orleans also restructured the contracts of Andrus Peat and Malcolm Jenkins opening up another nearly $10M. How the restructures helped, but felt more like a need than a want. New Orleans was also awarded three compensatory picks, which picks they were granted, and where they select throughout the draft for now.

Ranking the top three salary cap moves left for New Orleans. The list tops off with a move that not only frees up cap space, but builds toward a bright future. Mickey Loomis and Khai Harley continue to work their magic as the New Orleans Saints bulldoze their expected salary cap woes.

The New Orleans Saints know how to work the salary cap and put it on full display Tuesday by franchise tagging star safety Marcus Williams. Can a long-term contract get done before the 17th and the opening of Free Agency? The Saints certainly hope so. But even if they can't, it's not an unmanageable situation at all. What to expect in the coming days.

The Saints offensive line had some bright spots and disappointments not living up to their gold standard in 2020. What worked and what didn't in our Year in Review.

Looking ahead to 2021, the Saints will need to find a way to keep Ryan Ramczyk via extension, their answer at center and whether it's Cesar Ruiz or Erik McCoy, and fill out the depth before their five starters including Terron Armstead and Andrus Peat.

With reports circulating that the New Orleans Saints have entertained trade possibilities for Latavius Murray. Emmanuel Sanders, Malcom Brown, and Kwon Alexander, how much could they get in return outside of relieving salary cap concerns?

How extending Marshon Lattimore and Ryan Ramczyk can also alleviate some salary cap spending ahead of free agency and why one might take priority over the other.

Listener questions from Twitter for Twitter Tuesday! If the Saints trade away or move on from Kwon Alexander, Emmanuel Sanders, or Latavius Murray, where do they go next at three key positions? Why Ross wants a Rickey Jackson jersey to hang up, and how Dak Prescott's new contract affects the Saints in their salary cap woes and even the most unwarranted Russell Wilson hopes.
