Locked On SEC – Daily College Football & Basketball Podcast

Can Kentucky or Vanderbilt become the SEC’s Indiana and stun college football with a national title run? Chris Gordy and a panel of Locked On hosts debate which SEC underdog could rise next, spotlighting the paths for Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Florida, Auburn, and dark horses like South Carolina and Mississippi State. The crew analyzes the impact of coaching hires like Pete Golding and John Sumrall, the transfer portal’s influence, and why quarterback evaluation—highlighting names like Trinidad Chambers, Deuce Knight, and Lenora Sellers—defines championship potential. The conversation also unpacks top SEC portal additions, including Cam Coleman and Jaheim Otis, examines flawed transfer rankings, and reacts to On3Sports’ way-too-early Top 25. Can Texas, Georgia, or Lane Kiffin’s LSU live up to preseason hype? With offensive lines, star quarterbacks, and coaching strategy in the spotlight, the SEC landscape looks more unpredictable than ever.

LSU poaches yet another Ole Miss star player as Lane Kiffin continues to load up in Baton Rouge. Will this shakeup ignite new SEC rivalries and set the stage for a season to remember?

Chris Gordy spotlights transfer linebacker Princewill Umanmielen’s move from Ole Miss to LSU and the budding wave of Rebels joining Kiffin. The show dissects Ole Miss’ evolving offensive staff and the high-stakes battle for quarterback Trinidad Chambliss to return, while Alabama welcomes Mississippi State’s Jayvin James to shore up the offensive line.

Special guest Clark Lea, Vanderbilt head coach, reveals inside perspectives on Vanderbilt’s top-40 recruiting class, their ambitions for a national championship, and how building from a 2-10 record paid off. Coach Lea touches on his new QB in Jared Curtis, and also how he continues to exceed everybody's expectations in Nashville. Coach Lea appears on behalf of the Bear Bryant Coach of the Year Award, which salutes the top coaches who have reached the same high standard of excellence of Coach Bryant.

The episode closes with key Heisman odds, G League to NCAA eligibility controversies, and Vanderbilt’s explosive backfield set to drive their SEC campaign. Is a new SEC power balance emerging, and can Vanderbilt capitalize on their momentum? Don’t miss this must-hear roundup.

SEC football shakes up the final AP Top 25, with Ole Miss finishing third and Georgia, Texas A&M, and Alabama all locking in top 10 spots. As we turn the page toward the 2026 season, we pose the question - Could Kentucky become the next Indiana and make a championship run in college football?

Chris Gordy and Lance Dawe of Locked On Kentucky analyze the league’s latest rankings, transfer portal movement, and coaching changes, including Will Stein’s hire at Kentucky. The spotlight is on Kentucky’s rising portal class, Colton Price’s arrival at center, Kenny Minchey at QB, and the program’s bold new direction. Is Big Blue Nation ready to compete at football’s highest level like Indiana did? It's not as crazy as you might think.

Other key insights include Tennessee’s record-breaking investment in strength coach Derek Owings, how coaching switches at Georgia and across the SEC could impact next season, and a quick look at the SEC’s basketball landscape. Lance Dawe shares why Kentucky fans crave football relevance and how the SEC’s power dynamics are evolving after Indiana’s historic title run.

Chris Gordy breaks down what’s at stake as Friday’s critical deadline looms, analyzing commissioner stand-offs, scheduling nightmares, and the potential CFP impact of President Trump’s proposed executive order protecting the Army-Navy game’s tradition.

Transfer portal chaos continues across the SEC with Tennessee locking down LB Arion Carter, Alabama bolstering their edge with Desmond Umeozulu, and Ole Miss landing standout RB Joshua Dye. Chris Gordy spotlights each SEC school’s Top Portal Addition, updates team rankings, and explores how these roster moves could reshape the chase for next year’s national championship.
