The Atlanta Braves evened up the series against the Colorado Rockies last night at Truist Park. Kyle Wright was on display going seven innings with no runs given up. Jon Chuckery talked about Wright and Max Fried being one of the best pitching duos in Major League Baseball. Also, Chuckery made an interesting comparison of the young pitching duo. Secondly, the Atlanta Braves made the decision to bring back Ronald Acuna Jr. last night against the Colorado Rockies. The Braves have been trying to make sure they handle Acuna’s knee correctly. Jon Chuckery talked about how his level of concern was raised last night when Acuna talked about how his knee was feeling after the game. Lastly, the Atlanta Falcons drafted Ta’Quon Graham in the 5th round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Graham saw some playing time last season and is slated to be a starter in 2022. Mark Zinno talked about Acuna’s comments after the game that gave him some reservations about Acuna’s future with the organization. Secondly, the college football playoff has existed with four teams for quite some time now. With all of the conference realignment, it seems all of the conferences are pushing to expand past four teams. Mark Zinno talked about not being in favor of expansion. Also, he discussed one thing that the conferences need to do first before they talk about playoff expansion. Lastly, Stetson Bennett overcame a lot of outside noise by leading the Georgia Bulldogs to the 2021 National Championship. Bennett will still be under the microscope in 2022 as they try to defend said championship. Mark Zinno talked about how Georgia’s schedule favors Bennett and how the roster isn’t built the same as it was last year.

Jarvis Davis and Tenitra Batiste talked about how the Braves weren’t able to take advantage of the opportunities they had at the plate. Also, they discussed Ronald Acuna Jr. sitting out another game and A.J. Terrell finally getting some love from the national media. Secondly, the Atlanta Falcons was able to cut down their roster to 53 by yesterday’s deadline. Arthur Smith and Terry Fontenot had some hard decisions to make due to the competitive team they filled this offseason. Jarvis Davis and Tenitra Batiste talked about who they were surprised by making the team and whether or not the Falcons are done adding to their roster. Lastly, John Wall, at one point, was one of the most dynamic point guards in the NBA. In the past few years, Wall has dealt with his fair share of injuries. Jarvis Davis and Tenitra Batiste talked about his injuries and they discussed what he has been dealing with off the court that may have had an effect on his play as well. Also, they praised Harold Varner III for just saying what everyone has been thinking in regard to LIV golf.

Secondly, Tori McElhaney of AtlantaFalcons.com joined Hittin’ Hard with Jon Chuckery to talk about the Falcons trimming their roster down to 53. They talked about how Arthur Smith is trying to continue to change the culture in Flowery Branch. McElhaney also gave who was her surprise cut. They discussed the possibility of Qadree Ollison trying to catch on with another team. Lastly, the Atlanta Falcons have had to deal with the backlash when Calvin Ridley was caught gambling last year. With the news of Ridley being targeted in gang-related robberies, it speaks to Ridley’s mental state in 2021. Jon Chuckery talked about how he understands what Ridley was going through, but there was still no reason to start gambling on your team.

Secondly, when Terry Fontenot took over as the general manager for the Atlanta Falcons, he knew the salary cap would be a task to stabilize. The Falcons have the biggest dead salary cap hit in the NFL this year with 63 million dollars. Mark Zinno talked about how the Falcons spent their salary cap space on offense, and how that correlate to wins in the NFL. Lastly, the Georgia Bulldogs are all set to open up against the Oregon Ducks. Kirby Smart still feels like he has a lot to prove because he lost so many players on defense to the NFL Draft. Mark Zinno talked about how Smart’s conservative coaching style will help the Bulldogs get a win against the Ducks.

The Atlanta Falcons were questioned by some when they took Drake London eighth overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. Arthur Smith and Terry Fontenot were steadfast about London’s ability. London was able to hush some of the doubters in his first preseason game until he came up lame after making his first catch in an NFL game. Jarvis Davis and Tenitra Batiste talked about their level of concern and how the Falcons could use him in week one against the New Orleans Saints. Also, they talked about the Atlanta Braves taking on the Colorado Rockies at Truist Park. Secondly, if the Falcons had a slogan they could’ve used for the 2022 season, it is competition. Terry Fontenot and Arthur Smith came into this season wanting to bring in as much competition as humanly possible. Jarvis Davis and Tenitra Batiste talked about how they already started to see some of the cuts being leaked before the deadline. Also, they discussed if Fontenot will look around the league to bring in outside talent. Lastly, the Atlanta Hawks made this offseason all about bringing in help for Trae Young. With Dejounte Murray being on the roster, the Hawks find themselves potentially being in conversations as contenders in the Eastern Conference. Jarvis Davis and Tenitra Batiste talked about another conversation that Young could be in if he takes his game to another level. Also, they discussed Calvin Ridley being a target for robbery in Fulton County.

The Atlanta Falcons have found themselves having to make some hard decisions. With cut day upon us, there are reports coming out about certain players being released by the Falcons. Also, Chuckery talked about surviving in the short-term so they can thrive when the playoffs roll around. Lastly, the college football season is set to officially kick-off this weekend. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will start their season against the Clemson Tigers. Jon Chuckery talked about Geoff Collins’ job status as the Yellow Jackets have one of the hardest schedules in the country. Also, Chuckery talked about Collins potentially not making it through the entire season.

The Atlanta Braves are pretty much set to play games in the MLB playoffs. Brian Snitker will have some decisions to make when it comes to his pitching rotation. Mark Zinno talked about knowing Max Fried will have the ball in game one, however, he does believe that Snitker needs to strongly consider giving the ball to Spencer Strider in game two. Secondly, the Atlanta Braves are set to face off against the Colorado Rockies. They started off by talking about how the Braves should take advantage of the soft schedule the Braves have coming up. Arthur Smith and Terry Fontenot have wrapped up their second preseason with the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 28-12 in their last preseason game. Jon Chuckery gave a few takeaways from the preseason as a whole. Also, Chuckery talked about how pleased he was with Desmond Ridder’s performance. Secondly, the Atlanta Braves lost the series to the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend. One reason was because the Braves’ bullpen failed them late in games. Jon Chuckery talked about the back of the bullpen, and whether or not he’s concerned. Also, Chuckery discussed how the bullpen for the Braves are very similar to what they were last season. Lastly, every year the NFL Network comes out with their top 100 players list and normally it elicits a significant response. This year is no different because there was one player for the Atlanta Falcons that was left off the list. Jon Chuckery talked about why A.J. Terrell should have been on the list, and how Terrell handled being snubbed.

Minter gave up leads in their games. Also, Ronald Acuna Jr. did not play on Saturday or Sunday’s game. Jarvis Davis and Tenitra Batiste talked about their level of concern about the Braves going forward. Secondly, the Atlanta Falcons were able to get a win in their last preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Arthur Smith and Terry Fontenot are now tasked with cutting down their roster to 53 guys. Jarvis Davis and Tenitra Batiste talked about who made a case to make the team and who made a case to get cut. Lastly, the SEC was lauded back in the day when Sylvester Croom was hired as the head coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Now, with Croom retired at the age of 67, we are now going into the third straight season that there are no black head coaches in the SEC. Jarvis Davis and Tenitra Batiste talked about how the SEC has to do better. Also, they finished up with a PSA about bringing exotic pets to a public splash pad.
