Locked On Sun Devils - Daily Podcast On Arizona State Sun Devils Football & Basketball

It's no secret that Arizona State Sun Devils football struggled on offense last year, but the team's inability to score through the air was one of the biggest weaknesses the team dealt with in 2023. Heading into 2024, the pressure falls on Sam Leavitt to score more touchdowns after the Sun Devils tossed just eight touchdowns with six different passers last season. While he'll be without star receiver Elijhah Badger and tight end Jalin Conyers after both entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, he will have a literal big target in Troy Omeire returning who quietly tied Badger for the team lead in touchdown catches with three. Omeire enters a big season for himself as the potential number-one receiver for Arizona State Sun Devils football. Although Omeire's 20-catch sample size last season makes it difficult to determine if he's ready for such a role, the parts we saw showed a player who more than anything else can be a post-up player and a potential nightmare for opposing defenses once the Sun Devils get into the redzone. Host Richie Bradshaw breaks down why Omeire could become the biggest touchdown threat for Arizona State Sun Devils football in 2024 and predicts his potential stats including best- and worst-case scenarios on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

Arizona State Sun Devils football struggled to move the ball through the air last season with tons of factors involved including bad quarterback play, injuries, and the play calling itself. It hasn't been done any favors heading into this year with Jaden Rashada and Elijhah Badger entering the NCAA Transfer Portal, but the Sun Devils still have some talent at the wide receiver position even with Badger's departure. One of those guys is Jordyn Tyson, who missed last season while recovering from a leg injury he sustained in 2022 with Colorado. Tyson is one of the most physically gifted players across any position for Arizona State Sun Devils football and a healthy version of himself could give the team the juice they need through the air this season. There is a lot of projection when talking about Tyson, but in theory, he could become the WR1 that the Sun Devils desperately need in 2024. Host Richie Bradshaw discusses whether or not Tyson can be WR1 while predicting his stats including a best- and worst-case scenario plus his potential upside as a special teams return man on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

The Big 12 Conference has plenty of talent for the upcoming football season and Arizona State Sun Devils football will have its work cut out for it in trying to make a splash from day one. The Sun Devils are coming off consecutive three-win seasons, but the difference from 2022 to 2023 was staggering under Kenny Dillingham. A move from the PAC-12 Conference to the Big 12 Conference could pay massive dividends for the Sun Devils but year one won't be easy. The preseason media polls had the Sun Devils in last place of the conference and the disrespect rightfully stirred up fans. They weren't the only program dealing with such, as the Houston Cougars football program was also picked to finish one spot ahead of Arizona State at 15. On a special crossover edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast, host Richie Bradshaw joins Parker Ainsworth of Locked On Coogs to discuss why the two programs could shock the world in 2024, plus some conversations about the conference move from the PAC-12 Conference to the Big 12 Conference for Arizona State Sun Devils football and what could be next for the Big 12 on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

Kenny Dillingham faces a big season ahead of him and Arizona State Sun Devils football in 2024. Dilly will be tasked with taking the Sun Devils from the PAC-12 Conference to the Big 12 Conference following a conference realignment, where the competition is stiffer and the schedule is no joke. The defense should be a good unit again in 2024, but Dillingham will need to take the offense a few steps forward from last year's performance, and the run game could be the key to doing so. The Sun Devils have no shortage of talent in the backfield with potential superstars Cameron Skattebo and Raleek Brown waiting to break out, but their depth is equally as impressive. Veteran DeCarlos Brooks returns after playing four games last season, and he was very good in those four games. Sophomore Kyson Brown is also back after showing flashes as a freshman. The Sun Devils made two big offseason splashes with former AAC Rookie of the Year Alton McCaskill and four-star freshman Jason Brown to make a deep room even deeper. With six guys in the backfield who could all justify serious playing time, Arizona State Sun Devils football must look at the room and realize that the run game could likely be the key to the 2024 season. Host Richie Bradshaw breaks down the room with some stat predictions from the unit as a whole and answers the question of whether or not the run game will define the offense and potentially the Arizona State Sun Devils football program as a whole on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

Arizona State Sun Devils football has officially joined the Big 12 Conference and their debut into the league is right around the corner. With the season under two weeks away, host Richie Bradshaw is joined by Locked On College Football host Spencer McLaughlin to discuss the Sun Devils move to the Big 12 Conference and create some realistic expectations. Although Arizona State Sun Devils football is coming off consecutive three-win seasons, Richie and Spencer believe that a bowl game is on the horizon for the program and competing for the conference could be sooner rather than later. The return of Kenny Dillingham and Brian Ward should bring plenty of confidence to the Sun Devils faithful and a team that was in lots of tight games last year but fell short can start turning those losses into wins. The Big 12 Conference's future could be wide open after this upcoming season, and Arizona State Sun Devils football has a chance to slide in and assert themselves atop the league sooner rather than later. The guys discuss realistic expectations for Arizona State Sun Devils football in 2024 and why their future could be bright on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

Arizona State Sun Devils football is set to field perhaps the deepest running back room they've had in a long time. Cameron Skattebo, a.k.a. The Peoples Running Back, will see a serious amount of touches this season after a successful 2023 campaign, but he may have to contend with incoming transfer and former five-star recruit Raleek Brown. The former USC Trojan is as talented a player as Arizona State Sun Devils football has yielded and will play a pivotal role for the team as a runner, receiver, and potentially returner on special teams. Brown is a weapon for the Sun Devils who can break off a big play every time he touches the football, making himself one of the most crucial contributors for this offense in 2024. With so many ways to beat defenses and make ESPN Top-10 plays, Sun Devils' fans may be in store for a special player this season. Host Richie Bradshaw breaks down some best-case and worst-case stat predictions for Brown including our own plus we answer the question of whether or not Brown is the highest potential player for Arizona State Sun Devils football on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

The Big 12 Conference revealed their preseason rankings as well as their preseason All-Big 12 Conference Teams. While Arizona State Sun Devils football was not represented as well as we'd like them to be, they were flat-out disrespected. Voters placed Arizona State Sun Devils football last of all 16 teams and didn't have a single player represented on their preseason All-Conference Team. Considering the unproven talent, the latter can be understood, but the former feels unreasonable. Although the program is coming off consecutive three-loss seasons, the difference in play from Herm Edwards' 2022 team to Kenny Dillingham's 2023 team is staggering. The Sun Devils were a night-and-day better program that gave plenty of teams hell, even if it didn't result in wins. Regardless, the Sun Devils as a whole improved even with the departures of Jaden Rashada, Elijhah Badger, and B.J. Green. Host Richie Bradshaw expresses his displeasure with the ranking and why voters were wrong plus a few Arizona State Sun Devils football stars who could end the year on the All-Big 12 Conference Team on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

In his first season with Arizona State Sun Devils football, Cameron Skattebo was arguably the best and most important player for Arizona State Sun Devils football on offense. Skattebo's efficiency as a runner and pass catcher and his prowess for getting into the end zone and even taking snaps under center made him an irreplaceable weapon. Heading into year two, Skattebo will again be a pivotal part of the Sun Devils' offense, but is he capable of being a true bell cow for the program? There are plenty of weapons in the backfield to help ease the load including Raleek Brown and DeCarlos Brooks and keep Skattebo fresh, but his level of consistency may lead Kenny Dillingham and Marcus Arroyo to make him the guy in the backfield. Host Richie Bradshaw dives into the conversation and predicts his stats ranging from rushing yards to receiving stats and even some passing numbers with best- and worst-case scenarios topped with our own predictions on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

On a special edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast, host Richie Bradshaw is joined by Arizona State Sun Devils football defensive lineman C.J. Fite. After a critical role as a true freshman in 2023, Fite is firmly established as a starter along the defensive line this year. Fite was one of the constants for the Sun Devils in a season that was rattled with injuries and made the most of his opportunities to see the field. Following spring ball, Fite has spent his time in the playbook and getting stronger with one main goal: becoming a better pass rusher. With his goal set and motivation established, Fite says he's determined to become a constant for the defensive line and says he's ready for a leadership role even in just his second season. All of this and more on this special edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.
