Locked On Twins - Daily Podcast On The Minnesota Twins

Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported Thursday night that at least one other team is in contact with Scott Boras and Carlos Correa. Correa, still working to finalize his contract with the New York Mets, may have to make a decision in the coming days. The Twins offered 10 years and $285 million before the Mets and San Francisco Giants balked at his physical. Would they offer that contract again? Likely not without an understanding of his medicals. Matt Braun of TwinsDaily joins to discuss the latest on Correa, his offseason grade for the Twins and more!

The Minnesota Twins have graduated a handful of their top prospects over the last year. Jhoan Durán, José Miranda, Josh Winder and Joe Ryan made way on the top-10 for some new faces.

The Twins' system is in an interesting spot after the deadline trades of Spencer Steer, Cade Povich and Christian Encarnacion-Strand. It's a high-upside group but one with many question marks. Let's rank the top 10 as we get prepped for the 2023 Twins season!

Carlos Correa's reported 12-year, $315 million agreement with the New York Mets is still not official. Correa remains in limbo after a second club expressed concerns over his physical. The San Francisco Giants were set to announce his addition before balking and now the Mets, with their record-setting payroll, aren't so sure about it either. What's the latest?

The Minnesota Twins have reportedly expressed interest in free agent right-hander Michael Wacha, according to Aaron Gleeman and Dan Hayes of The Athletic. What does this mean for the rotation and the Twins' plans for the rest of the offseason?

The Minnesota Twins had a disappointing finish to the 2022 season as the Cleveland Guardians dominated the head-to-head series, leaving the Twins in the dust at third place in the American League Central. It's easy to forget the breakouts from José Miranda, Griffin Jax and even Luis Arraez, who produced at a career-high level on route to the batting title and All-Star Game. There are many choices for 2023 breakouts but I've narrowed it down to my three favorites. Let me know your thoughts in the comments or on Twitter @NashWalker9 and @LockedOnTwins. Happy New Year!

Yesterday I presented three Minnesota Twins I like for the 2023 season. The list factored in prospect pedigree, 2022 performance and career norms. Griffin Jax, Jorge Polanco and Tyler Mahle all made the cut, with others knocking at the door. On today's show, I highlight three Twins I am not as high on for 2023. Given the above factors and expectations, I made these selections without much satisfaction. I hope I'm dead wrong about all three!

The Minnesota Twins are coming off a disappointing finish in a 78-84 campaign that saw them finish third in the American League Central. Within that, there were numerous key injuries that hampered them down the stretch, including both Tyler Mahle (shoulder) and Jorge Polanco (knee). Even in such a sad finish, the Twins had multiple breakouts throughout the course of the season. Griffin Jax had a really nice year next to Jhoan Durán in the bullpen while José Miranda and Nick Gordon each thrived at the plate. Who are three Twins I like for the 2023 season? Let's dive in.

The Minnesota Twins have yet to make a significant addition for their lineup. Carlos Correa's situation with the New York Mets remains in limbo but the Twins must proceed forward with the assumption that he won't be back. In that case, they lost their OPS+ leader from a team that lost 84 games. They need help in the lineup. With free agent options few and far between, let's look to the trade market for potential solutions.

After word leaked that the San Francisco Giants were in need of more information following Carlos Correa's physical, super-agent Scott Boras made a move. Boras contacted both the Minnesota Twins and New York Mets to gauge their interest in getting a seat back at the table. The Twins were unwilling to increase their 10-year, $285 million offer while Steve Cohen's Mets closed the agreement at 12 years and $315 million. The Twins lost twice and finished at least third in the race for the superstar Correa.

The Minnesota Twins have made a few prominent additions in free agency: first with catcher Christian Vázquez and then with Joey Gallo, but those two moves leave a lot to be desired. The Twins missed on every other top player and now sit looking at a picked over free agency board. Enter: Jurickson Profar, the best remaining free agent and perhaps the best hope for the Twins to add a 4-5 win player on the open market this offseason. Plus, notes on Carlos Correa's precarious physical in San Francisco.
