Locked On Twins - Daily Podcast On The Minnesota Twins

The Minnesota Twins finally gave Joe Ryan enough run support and helped him get his first win of the season as the offense found some life versus Detroit.

Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.

Minnesota Twins’ offensive woes show no signs of fading as CJ Baumgartner spotlights a sluggish lineup struggling to generate runs and consistency. With Tristan Gray emerging as the unlikely offensive leader and Brooks Lee faltering, the pressure mounts on stars like Byron Buxton—whose ten-year Twins tenure is celebrated—to spark a turnaround. Are the Twins banking on prospects like Kaelen Culpepper for a midseason rescue, or will the hitting drought continue to define their season?

Critical analysis includes Taj Bradley's promising start in the rotation, Mick Abel’s struggles to harness his potential, and the alarming stats behind Minnesota’s anemic offense. Baumgartner questions the rush to trade franchise cornerstone Byron Buxton and highlights the surging performances of AAA prospects. Plus, a look ahead at the Twins’ series against the Detroit Tigers and concerns about weak first base defense set the stakes for the weeks ahead.

Minnesota Twins set the stage for a franchise shakeup as Taj Bradley's electric start cements him as the team's top pitcher for 2026, making a Joe Ryan trade increasingly likely. With Griffin Jax struggling in Tampa Bay, did the Twins fleece the Rays in yet another blockbuster deal? C.J. Baumgartner explores the ripple effects of Bradley's dominance, breaks down the emergence of Mick Abel, and questions how this rotation overhaul could impact the broader youth movement.

The episode also covers the Twins’ acquisition of reliever Garrett Acton and what his addition means for a bullpen searching for stability. Plus, Baumgartner tackles the hot topic of long-term contract extensions, asking why superstar prospect Walker Jenkins isn’t likely to ink a deal like Konnor Griffin’s with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Are the Twins hesitant to spend, or is Scott Boras holding the cards? Don’t miss this sharp, fan-centered analysis of Minnesota’s post-opening week headlines.

Minnesota Twins stumble against the Kansas City Royals as sloppy defense and lost opportunities reveal a deep identity crisis. With Pablo López sidelined for the season, Joe Ryan’s shaky future, and Bailey Ober’s decline, the once-proud rotation faces serious questions. Even the bullpen’s volatility and lackluster offense—highlighted by Austin Martin’s surprising hot streak—raise doubts about the Twins’ direction. Can manager Derek Shelton and GM Jeremy Zoll unite this team amid swirling trade rumors and organizational uncertainty?

Host CJ Baumgartner breaks down the glaring defensive miscues, lineup struggles, and Minnesota’s aggressive approach to the automated balls and strikes system. Intriguing stats on Brooks Lee, Victor Caratini, and Byron Buxton’s defensive trust surface as Baumgartner questions whether the Twins can develop a reliable core or continue to rely on “random results.” Don’t miss this critical analysis of the Twins' search for a true identity as the AL Central season ramps up.

Joe Ryan never found his groove after allowing five early runs in wet hazy conditions inside Kaufman Stadium as the Twins drop to 1-4.

Minnesota Twins’ woes against left-handed pitching hit crisis levels as the lineup posts one of MLB’s worst OPS figures in 2026. Can Byron Buxton, Royce Lewis, and Josh Bell turn it around, or will the lack of bats to attack LHP doom their offense all year? C.J. Baumgartner explores why offseason signings haven’t solved the Twins’ southpaw struggles, which prospects might offer hope, and why Matt Wallner could be stuck facing unfavorable matchups due to their outfield depth chart.

Pessimism runs high in Twins Territory, but is it truly 4.3% bad? Fan morale hits an all-time low, yet Baumgartner argues optimism isn’t dead—especially with prospects like Walker Jenkins and Emmanuel Rodriguez on the rise. The show also debates whether new manager Derek Shelton can win over fans more effectively than Rocco Baldelli by bringing back a touch of “old school” energy. Are brighter days ahead for the Minnesota Twins, or is a long rebuild inevitable?

Minnesota Twins need Bailey Ober and Simeon Woods Richardson to anchor their rotation more than ever—are they the glue holding the season together? CJ Baumgartner breaks down why Ober and Woods Richardson's consistency is crucial for the Twins’ pitching, outshining even Joe Ryan’s role as the staff ace. Key points include the early struggles with fastball velocity, the importance of setting a reliable floor for a young, volatile pitching staff, and how injuries to Pablo López and David Festa change the rotation outlook.

The episode also spotlights Byron Buxton’s ideal fit in the leadoff spot, arguing for his speed and OPS advantage at the top of the lineup over Austin Martin and Kody Clemens. Plus, hear the top moments from the weekend, including Derek Shelton’s first win as Twins manager, clubhouse dynamics, and a special moment honoring Minnesota native Sergeant First Class Cory Hicks. Can the Twins find stability as the season heats up?
