Empiricism and scienticism is all the rage in many intellectual circles. "Show me the data" they say. They throw out reason and logic in the name of being reasonable and logical. Neil deGrasse Tyson is one of those people. He has said that philosophy is useless and that asking too many questions can get in the way of progress. Since when was asking questions not "scientific" or logical? On top of that, he recently tweeted about his ideal form of government where all policy would be based on the weight of evidence rather than belief. Gee Mr. Tyson, do you mind explaining why you believe all policy should be based on the weight of evidence and not "belief"? What's that now? You're doing philosophy to justify your scienticism?
