In the multitude of counsel there is safety. When making decisions, godly counsel shouldn't make the decision for us, but it makes a wonderful safety net in case we've missed anything along the way.

Demas is a sad example of a disciple becoming a deserter. His life serves as a cautionary tale about the cost of forsaking God for the World.

There were many different hopes in play throughout Jesus' ministry. Often they were self-centered and self-fulfilling which made them fragile and failing. Only when we see the true reason for Jesus' life and death can we have a fantastic hope that is not fragile and will never fail.

When making decisions, prayer is often only a token used to spiritualize doing our own thing. Only after surrendering our will can we really pray about our decision.
